Does have it's advantages doesn't it.
We've been using next doors 19 year old au pair as a cleaner and with the heat she's been really struggling.
Very kindly and selflessly I offered to let her cool off in the pool.
That evening, I'd just come in from the gym when there was a knock at the door and there she is in just her bikini asking if it is still alright.
"Of course it is, I was just getting in myself" followed by a shout over my shoulder to Mrs Woking "It's alright darling, I've got this"

I can tell you exactly when it will pour down - 23rd July - my first born's wedding day!

Its first day of school holidays for most as well, so that practically guarantees a wet day!

Well, drove from London to Winchester today and was greeted by thunderstorms and some flash floods on arrival in the deep south.

Most of my garden is the colour of a rich tea biscuit, and surely nowhere near as tasty. I really could do with some rain for the sake of the pond; if you top it up with tap water, the chemicals in it create an algal bloom, so I am reliant on water collected from the roof (I stand up there with a large bucket - only joking). You can use tap water but it has to be left for two weeks so the chemicals leech out of it. Obviously, some of the water also evaporates in the process.

I garden for wildlife so most of my plants are native but I take the attitude that if something can't handle the heat, it has to be replaced with something drought tolerant. That said, I have lined some pots with spare pondliner and that has allowed me to successfully grow some thirsty plants like devil's bit scabious.

I have been telling myself I so want it to rain that I will go and stand in it, when and if the precipitation does start. No sign currently, and the forecast keeps pushing its arrival into the future.

So there you go, a meandering, dry as dust post that makes the endless debates on Brexit seem utterly fascinating .

RFA

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Metropolitan Line is suspended in the Wembley Park/ Neasden area due to flooding !!!

1808 was a terrible year for heat. Farm workers dropped dead in the fields, birds fell out of the sky in mid flight and people living in cramped conditions in cities slept in the streets. We've got it easy really. I'm glad I forked out for a mobile air conditioner. Very effective but noisy.

Petrichor (/ˈpɛtrɪkɔːr/) is the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil. The word is constructed from Greek πέτρα petra, meaning "stone", and ἰχώρ īchōr, the fluid that flows in the veins of the gods in Greek mythology.

Q: What's the difference between a Hedgehog and a bus full of Chelsea fans?

I don't want to answer this. It looks like one of those questions from QI where no matter what you say you'll get a huge flashing screen come up telling you how much of a cnt you are. Something to do with pricks I'd imagine?

As for rain. My bike saddle was wet just now. Does that count?
