Scum 11:17 - Jan 29 with 6258 views | QPRSteve | Have just spent another £30 million to bring their January spending to around £160 million. How are they allowed to spend so much when clubs like ours are hamstrung by the authorities? The playing field in football is about as level as Mt. Everest.

My brother is a huge Arsenal fan and he mentioned Chelsea took a couple of those signings off Arsenal this window. Not sure why the players chose Chelsea to be honest. Arsenal have to play City 2 times yet and Pep knows his pupil real well so they could pick up 6 points there .Its not over yet Utd are dangerous they are locks for top 4 but Newcastle could slip back IMO

But isn’t wiping off debts by owners against FFP? Is that not what our owners did by turning the debt into equity? And we got the massive fine. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

they are under a different set of rules to us I think, the Premier League rules are basically a waste of time, the UEFA ones are the ones they need to comply with

I thought owners weren't allowed to donate towards FFP or P&S costs.

Surely that can't be right? Although as a top 6 club I suppose the rules are different...

sadly it is, the tightest rules are in the EFL. UEFA are starting to crack down a bit but ultimately all this was ever planned to do was to stop new money breaking up the monopoly when likes of Man City and PSG came along, it stops any club like us having owners spend big when you don't have the income to support it. the EFL will point to fewer clubs going into admin which is a big positive but it's buggered us right up

Ah, this explains why we put Travelman on a 4 year contract. Nice one Les.
Scum on 09:51 - Jan 31 with 2459 views | Juzzie | Chelsea are playing a very risky game. With players on such long contracts in order to spread out the transfer cost over a longer time, they are still committed to insane salaries for that lengthy contract. If any of the players decide not to give a fk, there's nothing the club can do. As has been said before even at our level, it's the salaries that can cripple clubs. If they start underperforming their value and desirability goes down and become harder to sell on without making a significant loss. Remember when the players all downed tools under Mourhinho? Could happen again, we can hope.

That was the most hilarious ever. By all accounts he didn't even ask for that kind of money but when you are presented with a 4 year contract worth £8.3million you are not going to say no and he had every right to honour it even if it meant be stuck in the reserves etc. Unfortunately it became very common, QPR prime examples, for clubs to dish out stupid contracts like confetti.

A grand total of 201 games in a 16 year career works out at an average of 12 games a year. What a hard working/injury prone player he was.

Lucas Piazon, signed for “£5-10m” as a 17-year-old in 2011, left in 2021. One premier league appearance for. Chelsea, in his first season, missed a penalty (at 8/0). Proper summary of his career withdrawn on legal advice. [Post edited 31 Jan 2023 14:02]
