Andy Evans retiring 20:44 - Dec 18 with 1073 viewsNorthernr

Now, we band around the term 'legend' a bit willy nilly these days.

This guy truly is.

One of the most genuine people you could ever meet. A force for good at our club over decades, often when the club itself was a shtshow. Upheld its values, often when it had forgotten them itself.

That's a huge pair of shoes to fill in a vital job that shouldn't be taken lightly. Very sad to see another QPR long termer leaving the club but may Andy enjoy his richly earned retirement.

The very best of us as a group, and QPR as a club.

An absolutely incredible man. If anyone deserves an MBE or an OBE it's this legend.

Never knowingly right.

He'll be sorely missed.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Andy has been the soul of this club, often on his own. Local boy who done brilliantly and never, for one moment forget his roots. Our response to Grenfell was all down to Andy, our fantastic community contribution all down to Andy. We will miss him terribly but I know he will be here, he is the essence of one of our own. Enjoy your retirement my old mucker and come on you R's.

Yep, a great guy and unsung hero maybe? He's done a lot of great work for QPR and the community. Have to say that when times have been low football wise, hearing what Andy and the club have been up to behind the scenes has helped keep my pride in the club!

The best of us.

Let's hope he can enjoy a long and happy retirement.

Absolute gentleman. When QPR on the field of play did their best to send you into paroxysms of despair, he always, through his community endeavours, made me proud to support my team. On a personal level he helped me out once with a friend’s charity. There are disabled kids in a remote part of India who were thrilled to receive and still proudly wear QPR shirts and training tops. Closer to home I know people involved with the Grenfell community and what Andy & QPR did was fantastic. Yes the celebrity games for Grenfell were well publicised - and that was the point - but from day one of the tragedy QPR were doing all they could to help and it was nothing to do with publicity. All the best for your retirement Andy Evans.

I was living in Kansas City, Missouri and an English girl friend on knowing I supported Rangers said she knew someone who worked for QPR in the community. I said that’s what I want to do if I went home.

So I ended up in Ruislip Gardens and my neighbor Terry used to play with Andy in the supporters club team. Got Andy’s details and along with Steve Q they interviewed me for a coach working in the community program. Started up in the after schools program coaching to working with hard to reach members of the community to being part of the formation of the girls set up. To go to work every day wearing Rangers gear, brilliant. Recently just lost my favourite le coq sportif hat, not happy. Now been working in girls/ladies football for 25 years. My team are currently Maryland state Champions.

Andy gave me an opportunity to which I’m forever grateful. A few of us were tight in the office because we were Rangers. Andy’s dad a lovely man and my dad both took us to Rangers as kids. Andy’s resilience and vision I admire tremendously and literally has done a fantastic job. Believe me you need the diplomatic skills of a saint to do his job. Saw him last December at LR and I still consider us tight. A good guy is Andy.

I’ve known the Chief exec of Luton Town’s community set up and he can’t speak highly enough of Andy. He says Luton and many other clubs have taken Andy and QPR’s set up, methods and successes and been inspired by them.

Agree, Forever R’s would be a fitting tribute.

Incredibly sad news.

I've lost count of the amount of times we as fans have listed Andy's work as the best thing about our club.

Heartfelt thanks for everything, Andy.
