To qualify as "known" you must have been on first name terms with the person (both ways!). You do not need to still be in contact with them (e.g. your baby sitter when you were a kid counts!)

As a kid i used to deliver newspapers to Michael Wale who was an awful tipper until he found out i was a QPR fan then was lovely.
I used to know Trevor Sinclair and kev Gallen back in the mid 90's through drinking in the boulevard iN Ealing on a Tuesday. I helped Trevor carry Kevin Gallen out one night and put him in a taxi but I imagine most people around Ealing at that time have similar tales.
Emma Willis who hosts Big Brother and the Voice now used to be on first name terms with me when i worked at MTV and she was a right laugh. Lara Lewington also used to have a chat with me in the lift at work and over the pub on a friday, my mate ended up shagging her. |

I used to play for Ealing/Acton Whistlers too! Though I guess I may be a little younger, when I was there King Kev was doing the business and would train with us sometimes to show us how much better than us he was - he was a good 7 or so years older than me I guess. His brothers were nice, his dad a real gent and his mum while a lovely lady didn't like losers, only winners winners WINNERS!
Right Said Fred used to live near me in Ealing so saw them around a fair bit. My mates sister went out with Jay Kay when they were in their teens. I met the queen and had a nice chat with her when I was about 8 or 9. Philip Stone from The Shining, Clockwork Orange and Indiana Jones (among others) was a neighbour. Uber tenuous this one but I like it: my friends brothers friends dad was in Aswad (Shine). I learned about recording and remixing with MC Spyder and the band Broadcast, and a dear personal friend of mine Tony The Interpretive Dancer (from various bands and pals with Cobain and Grohl - he probably stayed with you Yugo!). I met the cast and crew of The Sopranos at an off broadway show I was audio designer for in America, had lots of actors from American TV though no real household names. I worked with one of the violin players from John Williams orchestra which was really cool. I've been real fortunate to meet most of my QPR heroes from the good old days of my supporter ship - the Gallens, Aisnworth, Rowlands, Bircham! The last few QPR chairmen Bill Power, Gianni Paladini, Ecclestone and Fernandes. Bill Power by far the nicest. I met and had a nice long chat with Dan Carter during the World Cup recently as he was staying near where I live, really nice bloke.
Forgot to add Lolly Badcock! She used to be a pal until she became popular...just google her BUT don't do so at work (NSFW!!).

As a kid my Nan used to live next door to Alan Devonshire when he played for Wham. During those days we were second division rivals. House was in Welland Gardens in Perivale. Won a silent auction lot earlier this year which involved a private tour of the House of Lords and lunch with
BlackRod and also a peer of the realm, which was Lord Guthrie of Craigiebank in the Lords dining room. Afterwards sat with BlackRod in his box in the Lords watching questions in the House. Very good day. |

Lived next door to and worked with Ardal O'Hanlon for a few years, went out with Francesca Gonshaw when she was in Allo Allo, had a one night stand with Juliette Binoche (but didn't know who she was until afterwards), hung out with Kim Wilde for a few years. Adam Horovitz (Ad-Rock) from The Beastie Boys is a family relation and used to invite me to shows in the UK, but doesn't contact me these days. Not sure why. I did once (stupidly) turn down Janine Lindemulder, the porn star who was on the cover of the Blink182 album. Lovely but bad timing. I knew glenn Roeder and his family very well. Great bloke. My favourite person who was well known that I knew well was Johnny Morris. In a sea of horrors at the BBC he was a complete gem. An all round brilliant bloke. I worked with Depeche Mode years ago and thought Dave Gahan was a particularly good bloke. Worked briefly with Joanna Lumley and was in total awe of her. Lovely lady. Working with Whispering Bob Harris at the moment and he again, is a really nice and down to earth man. Nice family too.

I have tried valiantly to come up with someone cool but sticking to the rules of them knowing you on first name terms then all i've got is Cameron Stout the Big Brother 2003 winner.
Prior to his tv exposure we worked reasonably closely and he supplied me with tonnes of wholesale salmon, he was/is a genuinely decent bloke and is now a primary school teacher on one of the smaller islands, he briefly taught my daughter during his training.

Keeping to the premise ofthe OP, i cant really think of anyone apart from Robert Elms. Not via QPR but the girl i was seeing at the time was his child minder.
Famous people I've met, seen, etc even if just once is probably quite long having worked in the music biz.
I'd like to add Sir Les too, at the Brit Awards mid 90's. It was just before our fa cup game at Old Trafford. Had a chat with him about the upcoming game, he was really nice and looked happy to talk about football as seemed a bit out of place at the music do.
When i was around 8 years old, my walk to school took me past the house of Tom Baker (Dr Who). Often he'd be leaving the house as i walked past and he would always give me a cheery 'hello'.
Months later my dad, my brother and I were at Brands Hatch and he was there starting a race. He was signing autographs outside the main stand so we went to say hello. Before i had a chance to say anything, he said "hello, i know you dont i). All tne other kids were well impressed!

I was taught to play guitar by Nick Simper who, at the time, was the bass player for Deep Purple and lived at the topof my road. Also played a couple of matches in the hayes & District Under 14/15's with Ray Wilkins and many years after that I played one match for Uxbridge alongside Andrew Strauss when the 1st's were a bit short handed. Through my ex Bro in law I also used to get to chat with Ian Dury and his manager Cosmo backstage at a lot of gigs back in the day and one evening had a right old chinwag with Elvis Costello and Steve Nieve, who was in the throes of being rinsed by an American girlfriend and everyone but him could see it. Was mates with Lee "Chippy" Charles for quite a few years but haven't seen him since running into him up in Stoke before he played for Aldershot in a play off final at the Britannia. I also used to chat with Macca and Tony Roberts at Yeading games back when Andy Impey & Chippy were still playing for them. I have also known Vic Stevenson and Dave Thomas since the birth of the LSA. :-) |  |
