Well Done team and Happy New Year..

as others are mentioning mate, Lumley is a liability.

Tell me how many of his clangers have cost us points or in fact wins this season?
you wont have to look far back either to start to know that if it werent for Clumsy Lumley we would be in the playoffs right now.

And today, yes we were 6-0 up and cruising to a degree but you look at all those delightful HD replays and see his 'save' which turned into being palmed into the net.

Ok you say, no worries, we won.....but its indicative of his ability, and he doesnt seem able to learn or improve from his mistakes.

You might be happy with the win, as i am, but are you really happy with his performance either at the end, or in previous weeks? If you are, then i suggest you join me on your suggested 'long walk', as we obviously both need it.

Ok, but just for the record, here are my notes on Lumley today, which I kept out of interest:-

Eight clean catches
One good save with feet
Positioning excellent
Communication superb
Body language excellent
Distribution good
One assist for the third goal
Got hands to Cardiff goal. Should have been parried clear, though hard-hit.

They're decent notes.

I should start match threads more often!

What an odd game, Cardiff were clearly on the seaweed gin last night but that doesn’t take away from our finishing which finally clicked. BOS, Wells and Chair outstanding today.

Might be wrong but I don’t recall either keeper making a save, did every shot on target go in today?

Lumley saved one with his feet in the first half.

I'd go as far as to say that if Lumley had been perfect all season and wasn't being scrutinised so hard by those who wallow in his failure no one would really comment on that parry into the net. Was a great strike.

Great display today.

Helped greatly by us finally converting our chances and the fact the for 85 mins Cardiff played like they couldn’t be arsed,

On their rare attacks and shots on goal I was so nervous about Lumley.

Lumleys throw out was inspired for that goal assist.

But don’t let this score and result detract from the fact that Lumley is more a liability than asset.

Today the team totally clicked. I would not have subbed Wells and certainly not BOS. Had BOS stayed on I could have seen another goal or two.

A brilliant end to the festive season. If we could just convert 50% of on target shots to goals we will be in the mix come April.

Well played QPR

6-1 against cardiff and luton still bottom of the league. 2020 has been the best year on record so far. I'm going to try and hibernate for the rest of the year. To keep this year special

There are some miserable bastards on here. We win 6-1 and, rather than celebrating the 6, they focus on the 1.
Joe won't need people telling him he should have saved it. He'll know.
More worrying is that Leistner had to go off with an injury. With Barbet out for a while, we are a little short handed if Toni is out for a spell.

Final comment - there were some strange results in the Championship, not so much the outcomes, but the scores.

Yeah I don't think we should get too carried away - FA Cup third round, two 12pm Sky games v Brentford and Leeds, and Blackburn away next should see to that.

Nicely called DM. Blinding performance today and a hat-trick for Nakhi which will do his confidence the world of good. He - and we - needed that. Fabulous....and against the sheep shaggers too.

Not too disappointed about the consolation goal as had £2 at 25-1 on 7 or more goals in the game. In fact was a bit gutted when the ref felt sorry for them & only added 1 minute!

More important than the £50 win, was the quality of our performance though. A real pleasure to be at the game and a brilliant start to the year.

Happy New Year all!

I know it’s hard to be critical on such a good day but MW said that we had to be more clinical in front of goal, and yet he takes off 3 of our better players today. We were 6-0 up on 65 minutes and scaring them to death every time we went forward. So why change it?And to bring BOS as your last change was a real mistake in my opinion.
We want 10.

Bloody hell. I feel a bit stunned.

Been a while since I've enjoyed an afternoon in W12 so much.

You know, if we keep BOS and Chair and put the Eze money to good use either this January or in the summer, well, we *might* just be onto something here.

But even if not, today's why you keep going, isn't it? You suffer all those 89th minute kicks in the balls against Hull just so every now and then, every few years, just enough to keep you interested, you get something like today in return.

And of all the teams to put 6 past - beautiful.

Agree that it was (obviously) a wonderful start to the New Year - even if Cardiff were shocking, we were at times sublime - and also agree that, despite a mostly decent show from Joe, and super assist for 3-0, that was yet another goal he should have stopped at the death, which must have really made our defence seethe after they worked so hard with 10 men to make it six of the best without reply.

For me, in terms of big positives, that was also a real 'statement' performance from BOS, who was an upper cut above all game, and finally delivered the performance + product he's been threatening in recent weeks, closely followed by a showing of real skill and industry from our pocket-sized magician Mr Chair. Wells' hat-trick speaks for itself, Cameron helped steady the ship, Leistner was rock-solid till he went off, and Amos buzzily effective. Only Eze - despite some lovely flourishes and his tap-in - blew more cold than hot today for me, but we need him to stay for as close to ever as possible.

If I had Les, Warbs and Hoos over for some Christmas leftovers, I wouldn't let them leave the house till they'd committed to really rubbing the Bluebirds' blue beaks in it by swiping back their keeper in the Jan sales. We know we can't spend millions, because we're told it every week. But he would, I feel sure, really strengthen our hand, and then who knows come the summer? And I've got a feeling, with a decent offer, he might well bite! Lumley needs to learn from a quality goalkeeper, go out on loan to a lower league club, or a combination of both.

There are 5 points between ourselves (still in 15th) and Millwall in 6th, as the table stands tonight. There is no reason why this team can't have a tilt at the playoffs, as far as I can see, if we can strengthen our hand through defensive coaching, squad rotation, and a bit of clever dealing in the window. I think we're still short of nous, experience, and consistency, so that might be my heart speaking louder than my head. But, for me tonight, we just need to dream harder, box (to box) cleverer, and who knows what might happen? Who's with me?

He already addressed this in his post-Hull interview - in short, squad protection. But at what point does it become pointless if (as then) it arguably loses you the game, apart from the issue of short-changing supporters?

Today, I would have hooked Nakhi whose work was done, but kept BOS on, as he was so hungry and deserved a crack at his own hat-trick.

The look on his face when he realised his number was up showed his disappointment. At least give him until 85 mins with a new striker on the pitch. Then try and close the game down by bringing in someone to shore up the midfield a bit.

Yeah it's a little unfortunate for a keeper who has a reputation for lacking focus, was lucky to keep his place and needed to show this game that he could focus for 90 minutes though.

He did focus for 90 mins. It’s the 91st he has trouble with

Everyone was gutted when BOS went off, he was my MoM, but I can understand why it was done. Game in the bag and another game in a few days at the end of a busy schedule.
Best to rest players and not get them an injury caused by fatigue.

It was obvious the game was going to go flat once Chair and BOS went off, and even probably a Cardiff goal, but as said, the game was already over so I wasn’t unduly worried, how could we be after a six goal winni g game.
