That was a truly dire performance. Our strikers, not wishing to get on them...don't look any good. Can't pass, shoot or hold the ball up. Chair, doesn't seem to be cutting it. Our centre mid...complete dog sh!t the lot of them. I've seen more creativity in my cat. Fcuking try passing forwards sometimes.
And as for the defence...well, there just doesn't seem to be any.

The first port of call should be to get a couple of hard bastards in. They don't have to be any good, but just add a little bit of edge to the team. It's all very well trying to play nice football, and I appreciate nice football, but you have to compete and we are too easy to play against. I know its obviously a different level, but as mourinho said several times on that documentary, be a c***. Being one of them is possible on a low budget

It's become a bit of a self fulfilling propecy with this too many games stuff. I do agree the schedule is mad but Warburton has been on about this since before the season starts and has become a ready made excuse. I get that there is no time to work on things in training but it's not hugely different this time of year to normal.
Last year after the international break we played 7 games in those weeks before Christmas, this year we will play 9 games in that period, it's not a huge amount more.
You also can't blame fatigue on yesterday, the game was lost in the first 20 minutes, nothing to do with being tired or lethargic it was basic lack of shape without the ball which goes on all the time.

The schedule is the same for everybody. Our last four games prior to yesterday were in West London, three of them were home games. We've done zero travelling between the Blackburn game and yesterday. Huddersfield in that same period of time have had three away games including a Tuesday night at Wycombe and a Tuesday night at Cardiff.

Could not agree more. We need get some grizzled no nonsense pros in the team. Veterans even.
On our budget you can’t have it all and Warbs focus on technicians means we getting small, soft or slow players. They’re all well and good but you need a mix.
A centre mid who tackles anything that moves and a CB who heads / punts / clears his lines please
Binning of Leistner because of his passing is ridiculous. We’re just not at that level yet - that’s a Guardiola’s world. Warburton needs to be less precious and get real.

I was thinking about Leistner too, this morning. Just the kind of playing we need to be organising our other young / inexperienced defenders.
Furthermore, you could also make a case for needing a Scowen-type ratter in our midfield. Another player binned early for whatever reason.
Both these players were ours under contract, yet deemed surplus to requirements.

We did that in the past with Ruddock and Jones and it helped us stay up with their know how and leadership. Someone needs to come in to organise us on the pitch.

Lets not get too romantic about leinster though, he was part of this defence for the first half of last season and we were no better
I don't think we particularly need different style of footballer rather getting a real organiser on the pitch is essential. The team can defend properly but it has been so ridiculously switched off at times that goals are conceded too easily. The first against Bristol City was terrible, play breaks down, slow long diagonal from our left to right but the team just didn't move over as a block. That wasn't one player it was the entire back 4 and 3 of the midfield. Ultimately that should be coached to death and be 2nd nature but the players have to be responsible as you can see by the times its done correctly that they have been coached that way. Too many times it's lack of closing down that is creating the opposition openings and perhaps it's a proper leader that's needed to get that message on field? Also, if it is true, Chair and BOS don't pass to Dykes then that leader should be able to sort that too. At this moment I do think MW is on the cusp of having a top 10 team but these things have to be addressed

yeah he can't complain when he's picking the same team, pretty much, ever game. yesterday the rught back didn't play last time, the left back only played half a game, Cameron should've been fresh, and he could easily have given Adomahor Bonne a start to freshen things up further forward. I can only assume he doesn't want to lambast them in public. Fergie used to come out with some laughable excuses. That's all i can think, because it's no excuse. I did think there was a case for that v Blackburn, but at least up there we gave it a bash.
Bare bones.

I think there were a lot more reasons than just his passing with Leistner. I liked him, but our defence was no better with him in it last season than it is now. I'm less bothered about a CB than an LB to be honest. But some physical strength and knowhow at CB, LB and CDM, totally agree, would make an enormous difference. Our choice in central midfield currently is pretty dire. Nothing againts Cameron, Ball or LTC, they're all ok and LTC has been good this season. But we desperately need someone to do the job Hogg was doing yesterday.
Bare bones.

Agreed Karl. I've never bought the idea you have to have some loudmouth Terry Butcher/John Terry pwopah leadah type on the field, but
a) we have no apparent organisation (where someone like Ben Watson would have excelled) and
b) every time the opposition score, you see the whole team just look a bit glum and troop back for the kick off. Is it not the job of Cameron - or someone - to give them a bit of a gee up, especially when there's still 87 minutes left on the clock?

20 + years can do strange things to the memory, but are people seriously suggesting Vinnie Jones was anything but eyewateringly sht for us?
Sh1t yes and was a waste of money But him & Ruddock may have just about saved us in 98 from relegation
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

This.
It simultaneously feels like we are on the cusp of a playoff and relegation team. I thought Cameron would have been the Organiser type but it appears not.

My observation from watching most every game this year (not the highlights) albeit from the armchair.
Fundamentally we are soft/weak physically and mentally. We lack aggression. There’s little real drive or energy.
Our players just bounce off the opposition . Any mild aggression from an opponent usually ends up with us ceding possession. Teams that get in our face seem to be able to run riot.
We are far far too “nice” and lightweight
We have no hard men , maybe Ball excepted,. We have a soft attitude from the Manager down. Often players will switch off as soon as they lose the ball. I’ve often seen shots on goal not followed up for rebounds. And it’s not uncommon to see a player put his hands to his head when he loses the ball or his shot has been parried, rather than chase it back down and try to get the ball again.
How many times when we have a throw in do I see none of our players really wanting to receive the ball. We might as well just give possession back to our opponents - which we seem to do anyway.
Mediocrity seems to be acceptable. No one seems to be playing for the shirt.
We need to be much stronger and aggressive , both physically and mentally. And that’s the coaching team and well as the playing team.
We need a few players like Ron Harris or Clint Hill or Shaun Derry. What we’ve got is a load of players with the strength and aggression of Dick Emery or Richard Briars
It may not be “PC” but here we go

Of all the games I've ever seen I don't know why this one sticks in my mind, but I remember some years ago watching Graham Kavanagh absolutely running the show for Sunderland at LR. It wasn't that he was tremendously skilful, he wasn't, but the guy was just a warrior determined to win, and able to lead his team by example. We've been missing a player like that for years.

Derry Scowen Luango
We have had those players
Dom Ball is crying out for a woods or a Pearson next to him you look at spurs and see their midfield is full of ball winners, with solid defenders, their front 3 is very attacking , we imo are crying out for a couple of signings like Danny cullip / Adam bolder to beef things up , you can be dirty and play good football
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
