The way the test is going (early days in the series I know) means England as an entity really need to think about their priorities in formats. If they keep on being this bad in tests and charging £100 odd a ticket they will lose the fantastic attendances and it will become a vicious circle.

Think that is a spot on post. But while we have a generation that still think that test match cricket is the highest form, we will get people wanting to go I don't think you can blame the hundred for this as it only started this season and to be honest teams like India and NZ seem to be able to adapt to both forms of the game far better than us To be fair our batting over the last few years in test cricket as been fair at best to abysmal at worst We have never been able to replace Strauss and Cook and not had a number 3 since Trott. We have managed to get scores as a one off mainly through Root and Stokes and the occasional heights of a one man coming good but seems to be only the once For me it is not so much the formats but the decimation of county cricket There are very few overseas players now as there is more money in the bish bash events around the world and we have jumped on the band wagon now I always remember Bob Willis years ago saying that test cricket will die unless we take it as seriously as one day cricket.
Looks like we're going to have to for the 2nd Test. Also Broad out for the rest of the series.
Silver lining is Mahmood getting called up, I'd like to see how he goes in Tests as I can imagine him as a good pick for the Ashes if he can play the longer game.
