The peaky blinders match thread. on 16:14 - Jan 2 with 1785 views | Stainrod | That little spell including our second goal we looked brilliant - if we can play like that on a sustained basis there won't be many who can live with us. Brum were about as poor as I've seen from an opposition team this season but a good clinical display and really kept our shape and concentration at the back. The back three were all excellent.

Lovely to be proved wrong...well done the lads. Not the old Rangers I knew. Real 'bouncebackability' in every way. And a fine goal again from Willock. [Post edited 2 Jan 2022 16:16]

Think Dickie, Wallace and Barbet were the bedrock of that performance.

The peaky blinders match thread. on 16:21 - Jan 2 with 1542 views | Stainrod | Willock had been criticised for being a bit anonymous the previous two or three games but he really stepped up and terrified them whenever he got the ball. That goal must be a strong contender for Championship goal of the month. When you think we played most of the match with just Amos and Field - both back after major injuries - in central midfield with Willock further forward its encouraging others can step up in place of Chair and Stef. Fully expected Ball to come on late but clearly the manager didn't feel we were under that much pressure.

The peaky blinders match thread. on 16:21 - Jan 2 with 1532 views | Greenbay | FT REPORT The good and the not so good. We won, two very well taken goals, now in 5th spot, a point behind West Brom and with a game in hand. The goals - a calm, beautifully struck first half goal by Uncle then yet another brilliant goal by Willock. He sped past two defenders close to the by-line and hammered in a cracker. But let's be honest for most of the match we defended and defended and defended. No midfield control at all which leaves the question why? This was against a side that admittedly tried hard but not much quality Were we so defensive because we had no creative Chair - now I presume already in Cameroon? Was this a ploy by Warbs to defend and defend? If so that's a big change of tactic. And if so it worked. Just one mistake which allowed Aneke to halve the deficit 15 minutes from time. I have to say I'm a bit perplexed by our performance and the way we played. But it is another 3 points - 6 in just 3 days - and another win on the road. So I'm just going to enjoy a great start to the year, hope that Jordan Archer has a great month replacing AFCON-bound Seny, and take my hat off to Warbs - whatever he's doing he's the best manager we've had in years - cos we keep winning!!

The peaky blinders match thread. on 14:31 - Jan 2 by CamberleyR | He's passed the amnesty date for five yellows for a ban but his two yellows = a red card sending off still means he gets a suspension. |
He did - last match | | | |
The peaky blinders match thread. on 16:24 - Jan 2 with 1476 views | Jigsore | Wow, great win. Was afraid before the match that Deeney would f*ck us somehow but apart from a period in the second half we mostly held Birmingham at arm's length. Willock back to his best. Dieng composed again, we're going to miss him. But we really need Dykes to find form again soon, that's my main worry atm!

We have been criticised for playing too much ticky tack football without a plan B - today we had a weaker midfield but two up front. Think it was a clear change of tactic to go more direct and miss out the midfield a bit. Actually quite liked the way Dunne and co just put their laces through some clearances rather than always trying to play out - even if last ten mins or so we prob could have done with a bit more composure. I actually thought we played pretty well - much better than against Bristol.

Thanks. I think the Mowatt one was for serious foul play, so will be a three match ban anyway?
The peaky blinders match thread. on 16:36 - Jan 2 with 2229 views | PinnerPaul | Much better performance than Bristol - they only got in on our goal twice. Agree with Brian above - gave up possession a little cheaply at times & would have liked to see us create more, but even I admit these are 'difficult' times. so as Clive said in the preview, just keep in there, that's the name of the game. Ref - OK, nothing major wrong, let a lot of holding go, but consistent both sides, happy with that. Nice to see Sinton call out the little melee after foul on Barbet - ref is there, he's got the card out, why does Field have to get involved? Anyway, that's a minor point, 2 away wins after 2 home defeats is just what we needed.
