Can someone explain this induction process to this?
Is it anybody who has kicked a ball for us?
Tomorrow apparently it’s Anton Ferdinand, nice lad , only played 40 games, probably best remembered for the JT incident?
Thoughts

" He also started very well for us until the JT moment, which I don't think he recovered from "

That's pretty much how I remember it as well.

Codswallop. He was awful from day 1. A calamitous defender that stole a living from football on the coattails of his brother. West Ham's version of Stefan Moore.

I don't know if some people are deliberately looking for a reaction or just plain thick. The criteria for induction to Forever Rs has been explained dozens of times on here and elsewhere.

I'd say you're just plain thick.

Yes it is anyone who has played for us is welcomed back for a day out and a chance to say thank you for wearing the shirt. Anton is a worthy inductee imo
If it was the best players this would have been closed years ago with less than 100 players coming back. If you thought Anton was shit just ignore it, the stick he's getting from QPR fans tonight ids so uncalled for

He only wore the shirt 44 times, making a shedload of money in the process. He made far more appearances for West Ham, Sunderland and Southend United. Hardly a modern day Alan Macdonald.

“He's obviously bothered enough to come back.“
A very good point and not one I had considered when ruminating on the merits of some of our inductees.
👍🏻👏🏻

Wow, let's give the man a medal.

what difference it really make? Whether it’s Anton Ferdinand, Jamie Mackie, Chris Kiwomya, Peter Hucker, Wayne Fereday, Karl Ready??

What do the players get from it? A bit of acknowledgment for their time at the club in front of a half empty stadium? Hardly giving them the keys to W12!

Why get upset by who it is? I would suggest people need to ask themselves that rather than get angry at the individual or the club.

If it doesn't make a difference then let's induct Bosingwa, Assou-Ekotto, Vine, Kane, Jones and anyone else that wore the shirt briefly, irrespective of their performances.

Zesh Rehmann is in forever Rs and got less comment that Anton has.

Another average player but to be fair Zesh represented QPR in the lower leagues earning a fraction of what Anton was paid. He wasn't part of a group of Premier League prima-donnas who broke the dressing room spirit, got the team relegated and almost bankrupted the club in the process.

One of us is clearly more upset about this than most of the others. He played for us, tried within a team that rarely did, received disgusting racist nonsense in our service and did his best for us. No issues with recognition and a genuine player who tried to do right by us. Not a waster, not a star by any means, but committed and willing when he played for us.

Never knowingly understood

It was 49 times.

So what exactly should the criteria be then? Played more than 50 games or 100? Not sure why the amount of games makes any difference.

Very, very good. He was incredibly appreciative of the support he’d had from the fans, and of course none of us know what he had to put up with. His kids were thrilled.

Lovely stuff. Proud of the club on and off the field.

It's a great idea by Sinton and we should continue. Does much for the hospitality experience having ex players attending matches and cost's the club nothing. Obviously we can't expect 23 legends turning up every season and there will be some lesser known players getting a run out.

Great reception today for Anton and his family.

I found it quite moving Brian. He was clearly very touched by how the QPR fans had supported him when he was both going through it and at the crowd today. He actually said that that he wouldn't be here now if it weren't for that support.

The crowd gave him a fantastic welcome and it added to a great day today.

Meaning he wouldn't be attending the ceremony or he wouldn't be alive, did you think?

That's right; none of you know so stop trying to fill the gaps with illusions of suffering and pain. He's had a great life and his family are just fine. In private I doubt he thinks twice about the JT incident. Only QPR fans make a mountain out of that molehill because it was Chelsea and JT. Chelsea have long stopped considering QPR as rivals so move on.

Good sensible post, go sit in the corner.
Anybody who stands up to that scum who continues to get employed deserves a clap in my book, very humble and thankful for the support.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

QED. At it's core, some of the views expressed on this thread are driven by delusional anti-Chelsea and JT sentiments. It has little to do with feelings for AF.

Definitely meant not be alive. He was choked up.

Also lovely little cartwheel from tiny daughter who lapped up the applause.

Obviously you’re going to find anti Chelsea sentiment on a QPR message board. Most of us don’t like them very much and think fondly of our former players who were involved in wins against Chelsea.

That’s without delving deeper into the whole Ferdinand and Terry incident (life’s too short) which I sense is the real reason you’re upset about Ferdinand being inducted into the Forever R’s.

Anyway, I’ve always found JT a cringeworthy nickname coming out of the mouths of grown up Chelsea fans let alone a QPR supporter.
