Get a grip. You don’t have to be some rabid anti-Chelsea fundamentalist (I’m certainly not, even if I think Terry’s a disgraceful specimen and a large chunk of their support are awful) to recognise that Anton underwent an experience while acting as a servant of this club which affected him in profound and extremely negative ways for a very long time. If that had been the only game he’d ever played for us, then a recognition of what he went through by the club and us as supporters would still be an honourable and empathetic thing to do. If you’ve watched the BBC documentary about it, and still think that what really matters here is his appearance count, then you need to rethink your priorities.
We should celebrate and support Anton for the same reason that we don’t quibble about how many first team appearances Kiyan Prince or Ray Jones made: because what QPR means to people and the values it (and we) stand for should go further than just what happens on the pitch. |

Just a couple more things. I'm sure the players would have heard the reception that AF got today. If you were playing for us now, wouldn't that give you a bit of a warm feeling putting on the shirt, knowing that our fan base still values players well after they can score a goal or make a goal line clearance.
I know I'm a snowflake. I can see that Bennie would see me as a virtue signaller. But surely that only applies if you're saying things just to get likes? I'm not sure why you're so angry about it all though Bennie. Honestly, it seemed like the vast majority of the crowd yesterday enjoyed giving AF a warm welcome. There've been numerous threads about Forever Rs where it's been done to death that it's not some sort of Hall of Fame, it's about recognising members of the QPR family. Some people still either don't get it or want to try and make a negative point about a particular player. It's pathetic really and demeans anyone who does it - "Oh someone is doing a nice thing for someone else, I think I'll just throw a bit of snark into things." You might as well stand around outside restaurants on Valentine's Day shouting "It'll never last!"
I won't say that everyone who has ever pulled on the shirt deserves to get in, there are players who weren't interested, but it's actually the guys who didn't make it big time for which this sort of thing matters. As to whether Anton Ferdinand "just gets in because of the Terry incident": well, actually, that's good enough reason for me. We were meant to be fodder to the mighty "Top 6 club" who "don't see QPR as rivals" and we turned the feckers over. They may not have thought it was a derby but they bloody well knew it was by full time.
It was about passion from the supporters and players in the face of overwhelming odds. God knows the team of that era lets us down most weeks, that day they didn't, and Chelsea couldn't cope with it. They lost their bottle, a player was too scared to take a corner, two more got sent off and a third should have been, and Terry showed his true colours with a stream of vile racist abuse for which he then came up with the most pathetic "dog ate my homework" sort of excuses ever heard until recently.
On that day the fans were with Ferdinand and he was with us and that's plenty good enough even if he did nothing else for us. And anyone who can't see that, well fair enough, it takes all sorts, but honestly they're missing out on what it is to be a QPR fan. |

I've actually always felt a bit uncomfortable about the Ray Jones thing given the circumstances, but its entirely the clubs right to remember Ray as they see fit, as they do in honouring Anton Ferdinand's club service, without me needing to cry about it all over the internet just because I feel a bit uncomfortable with it. |  | | |

The incident is irrelevant. It is not a criteria for entry into the Forever Rs club, nor is being related to the DOF. The club could make an alternative gesture (which IMHO isn't required) instead of devaluing the Forever Rs club. Anton, together with many of his teammates, represents everything that was wrong with QPR at the time. Who are we going to induct next? Bosingwa? Assou-Ekotto? Todd Kane? The sending offs were two of the most obvious you will ever see.
Sean Derry himself said 'something strange' happened to Chelsea that day, and he was amazed, as you say because of the vast experience of the Chelsea team that day.

AF is a South Londoner who supports West Ham. During his career he played far more games for West Ham, Sunderland and Southend than he did QPR. In the few appearances he made for QPR he was largely abysmal. He's not a member of the QPR family. |
There have been loads of players in the club who have played more games for other clubs in total than us
Phil Parkes, Tony Currie, Frank Mclintock all obvious ones but without looking it up I'd take a punt on Clive Allen, Dave Thomas, Paddy Kenny - must be loads and loads more. | | | |
