I'm completely in awe of this. No event in the history of my life has been marked to that extent. Nowhere near. I have sheer admiration for the people who are making the pilgrimage and I am completely humbled just looking at the queue on my television, yet alone joining it. A shame that more time could not be given to make it more easily accessible but obviously there are logistics and rituals to be observed. I hope every football supporter in the land gives the minute's silence and national anthem the full respect they deserve tomorrow.

So at 4 o’clock on Saturday, LoftForWorders are all at the game or following online but you are instead on this thread moaning at QPR fans who don’t share your world view.
Edit: Checking back it looks like you didn’t even post on the match thread. Just logged on to downvote and have another snide dig. Do you even support QPR?

I was working on Saturday: I couldn’t care less what you were up to.

Maybe thats not the right choice of words, it just felt that a bit forced on Saturday with the fake crowd singing also blasted through the speakers, no one seemed to be joining in where i was (appreciate thats probnably different elsewhere), it all felt a bit odd. I love the anthem played before England games, sing it loud and proud just felt a bit odd at the weekend
I didn't see anybody where I was joining in. Mind you, who knows more than a couple of lines of the lyric?
loved every 10 days of her funeral. as an englishman, this is why we should keep the monarchy. the response to every day since she died, including scotland. no other country could put on a show as good as this. why shut down the monarchy when its been going for a 1,000 years.

I agree - I'm more of a monarchist now than I was a few weeks ago.

Even if Labour had every seat in Scotland in still wouldn't be in government.
True but that’s because of the unusual Conservative majority. A smaller majority and the seats Labour once held regularly in Scotland would make a difference, seats which they could not ever recover should Scotland gain independence. Maybe somebody could check Labour majorities in the past and how many seats were Scottish. Labour have more to lose from an independent Scotland than the Conservatives. That was my point which I thought was obvious.

I thought the whole thing was brilliant today. The march through London with the Navy, her family behind and a collection of men and women who have won st george medals along with nhs workers, whole thing just looked great.
I felt for the fellas carrying the coffin, I did that for my Nan and Granadad and it's a scary experience, i had to navigate 4 steps, god know how they managed so many when it got to Windsor.
The drive down the A4 seeing so many familiar sights and people coming to be a part of it then the walk in Windsor, it felt like the end of an era, we'll never see her like again getting the role so young in life and being able to bring so many people together.
I know the monarchy isn't for everyone, I'm pretty ambivalent on it usually and I found the playing of the anthem at QPR saturday a bit cringeworthy but seeing these historical moments over the last week has been incredible. Thought the broadcast of it was superb as well, hats off to BBC & ITV for their coverage

I was very impressed with the coffin bearer party who were along her Majestys final journey the whole journey if I am not mistaken. The 2 officers ( not sure if thats correct ) were so calm and speaking their instructions each time very powerful IMO.I was happy to see that group took her the entire way.One of them looked like he was about to cry for 5 days . Today when the hearse was leaving for Windsor outside the gates a gaurd of honor by mounted military was incredible those horses stood so beautifully it was moving. I just saw the picture of Emma the Queens pony standing waiting as the hearse passed it was powerful and her 2 corgis waiting on the steps for her to come home. But nothing summed up the emotion of the ocassion that the bagpipes playing as her coffin was lowered into the crypt that was stunning and a fitting goodbye to an incredible person. RIP

I'm with you. I'm no royalist but the occasion has been incredible, culminating in the funeral itself. It was fascinating to watch the kind of ceremony I've only seen grainy black and white clips of before. The march with the bagpipes especially was something very special. The best of Britain on display to the world, after too much of the worst in recent years.
We also have a coronation, itself another huge historic event, to witness shortly.
But yes, some of the other stuff is getting into cringeworthy territory. During lulls in proceedings yesterday, various people were brought in to thte TV studio to gush about the Queen. Understandable in the circumstances, but some of it was pretty awful and clearly just "filler".
I've also been a pall bearer for my Gran in Ireland. It is a nerve wracking experience and on the day it was raining and muddy in the cemetary. At one stage we nearly slipped over and lost it, but just about recovered. Cannot imagine doing it knowing millions are watching.
One final note. A woman I worked with a few years back later became the girlfriend/partner of Anthony Albanese who was then Labor (spelt differently here) leader here and recently became the PM. To see her there in the thick of it with him was quite extraordinary. She would never have imagined being at such events, her mind must be absolutely blown to be in the sort of company she was yesterday. She no longer posts on facebook from the pub either!

I believe he was talking at an event and she got up and asked him a question about South Sydney Rabbitohs and the friendship blossomed from there. Incredible indeed.

Er yeah the great and the good filed in to gush. Alan Titchmarsh, Maureen Lipman...
Dunno where they dug up Kirsty Young from, hadn't seen her on TV for twenty years.

I think he was speaking and asked if there were any Souths fans in the audience. She shouted out "Up the Rabbitohs" and they got talking afterwards.
