I recall a double page spread at the back of The Super Soaraway Stun where good old Spunky was accusing the club of holding him hostage, holding back his career and that he wanted to join a big club. Whatever abuse he got (from me and everyone else) was justified. Should’ve kept his mouth shut, got his move, thanked the club and then gone on to pick up all his medals and trophies. (Which he did and reminded us at games by lifting his arms in mock trophy lifting….the cheeky Northern scamp)

Mind you LBlock we all got our own back with “let’s all do the seamen “ waving our arms in the air ala the Nayim goal
| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Actually felt a bit sorry for him (not much, it was very funny, but a bit) watching the entire loft doing that behind him when sat in Ellerslie at one game v Arsenal. I think we were 3-1 up at the time too, happy days.

| PBBC on 18:39 - Sep 6 by paulparker | Wrong game The first time seamen came back we lost 3-1 despite taking the lead , this was a period when Bardsley had to play at centre back as our injury list was through the roof , we was also on a terrible run at the time which cumulated in us signing Brevett, Peacock , Tilson the following month That was game the whisky bottle was chucked , it was a nasty atmosphere to say the least Before that seamen was booed playing for us against Forest as his deadline deal had fallen through with Arsenal as Lukic didn’t want to come to us in exchange , he had to see out the remaining fixtures before he got his move away |
I wasn't at that game but do remember the crippling injuries of that period and I think we lost maybe 8 league games in a row before reinforcements were signed and players started coming back. Still stayed up comfortably.

He has spoken well of us over the years but obviously going to talk more about his time at Arsenal as he did so well there A really good keeper for us and I've softened to him over the years but hated him at the time

Never soften your stance, Dave, it's all we've got as QPR fans. Indignation, rage, the unfairness of it all, channel it into totally and probably unfair fury and rage at individuals. It's why I will never re-warm to Sinton. I hope when I am long gone and Beale is our club ambassador walking around the front of the Mittal End of the Bhatia Stadium that my son is booing him and shouting Judas. Then my work of bitterness and resentment will be done.

I'm alright with Sinton, I think he was a bit harshly treated by us, the club spun bullshit about him forcing a move which was never the case

That's my recollection of it as well. Remeber hearing at the time that it was the club who wanted the money.

Am sure that's true, although easy to argue that Sinton spun it the other way, but still when he came back the stick he got was magnificent. Never seen someone look so perturbed and he played like a drain and got substituted. Finally, I thought, QPR fans standing up for themselves and our club. I know it is probably misguided but sometimes I think we lack pride in our club as a fanbase. We are allowed to stick up for ourselves and not just be a plucky underdog who claps politely when one of our players gets a decent move or some loan player tramples us underfoot and take the proverbial. I will always argue we are a better club than that, or should be. (I know we aren't in reality).

Sinton move predates my time but not uncommon to see clubs put out spin after a player has left If someone goes, it either means the club wasn’t willing to pay up to keep someone, so they often put negative stories out abt the player (sometimes true, sometimes false) I recall when we sold kpekawa to Barnsley, fans were upset we were selling a promising youngster (which turned out to be the right decision)… shortly afterwards, there was an article in westlondonsport abt how he was unfit, lazy etc etc I’ve seen some negative articles abt Bellingham after he left Dortmund and how all his teammates hated him (interestingly never saw these stories before he left) Qpr does this too where our own mismanagement of contract renewals or unwillingness to meet players wage demands are blamed on anyone and everyone else- agents (in mannings case) or meddling parents (in willock and brights case)… sometimes true, sometimes concocted CYA [Post edited 7 Sep 2023 10:29]

Agree completely. We don't demand enough of ourselves, and sometimes I think we like moaning more than winning.

Wonder if Eustace might fancy a day in the Ibrox directors box to 'cheer on Mick and the boys'. Maybe really press home his support by splashing it all over his Instagram.

| PBBC on 16:47 - Sep 7 with 2059 views | Antti_Heinola | I’m profoundly embarrassed by our fans’ (who including me) reaction to Sinton leaving. Looking back, it was pathetic and engineered by the club. Seaman i think is similar. Read his book to get the other side of the story (there’s always another side). Increasingly, as i get older, i find the anger and vitriol about players leaving (or not leaving - fans are hysterically hypocritical) quite ridiculous in most cases. | |

I've actually come around to thinking we are much better off without him, and it's worked out for the better for us. The FFP damage was done under Warburton, so we cant really blame him for that. Not a single player, bar Paal who is doing well again, is at the club whom Beale brought in. GA is giving chances to the youngsters so that can only be good for the medium term health of the club. His legacy at QPR is a footnote, much like it will be at G Rangers. He should still get pelters from us though when he rocks up at Boro or Sunderland etc.

He'll be lucky to get a job at Charlton. Reputation in tatters and all of his own making

Indeed. He won’t get a big club. Any decent club will look at what he did to us and give him a wide berth. He’ll be left with desperate clubs. Maybe someone in Finland will give him a job. For someone who’s been so careful to cultivate his public image he’s a bit stupid.

He'll get a job. As we know to our cost, once he gets you in the room... It won't be the sort of job he envisioned though. Suspect he saw himself smashing Celtic up for a couple of years and then into the sort of Leicester/Spurs gig Rogers and Ange got. And if you are somebody like Boro maybe, or down as low as Charlton, I don't know, would what happened at QPR play on your mind? He either does sht and you have to fire him, or he does well (and by well I mean wins half a dozen games in October) and leaves you. I know that's basically the case with every manager but Beale was going for interviews 4/5 games into last season.
