Part of the original so called ‘big 6’, who instigated the ‘Northern European League’ by way of bullying the football league and other teams to sign up to the awful breakaway league that is the Prem as we know it. Reduced to 20 teams, so there was more room in the troff for their snorts. Not happy with being in the elite club, this top table lot brought in financial FairPlay to ensure no smaller teams could eat at, or challenge their table. To see one of these top table next Tuesday clubs relegated would have been solace for the likes of Bury, and clubs like ours, if the rumours are true about the owners wanting to spend. I hope they go next year, but likely they won’t as Dyche will turn them into a mid table Burnley. Those entitled fans will then turn on him, due to style of football, and hopefully sack him. I’ll then get my chance to lick my lips once again as they, god willing, implode
| Bloodbath Thread on 23:27 - May 28 with 2275 views | joe90 | Disappointed Everton didn’t go down. I’ve read some very snobby comments about Luton from people who clearly don’t follow football outside of a handful of EPL clubs. I’ve mentioned it before, that nonsense phrase about ‘proper clubs’ and ‘proper fans’, it’s that sort of sentiment based on what the EPL should be and some clubs don’t fit into that, it’s as though some fans would like a league where there are only certain teams and they get to choose who joins… | | | | Login to get fewer ads

| Bloodbath Thread on 03:53 - May 29 with 2100 views | SydneyRs | Everton were always going to win that game. They had the perfect last two games against teams on the beach and the shock Brighton win pretty much sealed their survival, not unlike our freak result at Burnley secured ours. The mood was ugly at Leeds at the end, and this from a support base that is usually pretty loyal. Sacking Bielsa looks crazy in hindsight and Big Sam walks away with loads of money once again. The first Spurs goal with Kane allowed the freedom of the penalty area after 90 seconds said it all. QPR esque stuff. | | | |
| Bloodbath Thread on 06:09 - May 29 with 2037 views | BushRanger82 | I think it is safe to say, the only excitingly unpredictable thing about the premier league, is the championship play-off final to see which 1 of 2 teams gets to join the three-ringed circus. Man City. Champions. Again. Everton. Stay up by the skin of their teeth. Again. Those will be my bets for next season! | | | |

I agree. There is fixing in most sports, so why not football as well (particularly when there is so much money involved). Quite likely that big money changed hands in one of the recent matches (Everton 5-1 Brighton anyone?)

Ahh but remember in his own words from big toad mouth. Nobody is ahead of him. Not Pep, not Klopp none of them Fcking hell that had me in stitches ffs. Best bit that summed him up was when he found a fiver on the floor at West Ham. Him and that idiot Karl Robinson laughing and joking while his team were getting run ragged. Total embarrassment. Hopefully this performance and that disaster at West Brom a couple of seasons ago will put to bed this reputation he seems to have got in being able to keep teams up. Absolutely yesterday's man.

This is the culprit, must read the small print in future. Intrigued by the World Cup reference, anyone drink it, interesting but not worth losing a hand for. https://images.squarespace-cdn [Post edited 29 May 2023 21:01]

True. But if you're getting banged by West Ham, three days after they qualified for a European final with a Thursday night game in Holland with associated pis up, and weeks after their league season was effectively over, perhaps the magic bullet point list might need a revisit. Likewise a 4-1 home defeat by Spurs, who are all over the show. Two wins there, they stay up.

Both West Ham & Spurs are very inconsistent and are better teams than Leeds Their recruitment makes ours look outstanding in comparison that back four and the keeper is terrible no one would of kept them up

Yeh I don't disagree. I just think Allardyce is one of these Redknapp types where this reputation has been polished very carefully, allowing him to carry a suitcase of money back to Alicante at the end of every season, and a lot of is based on myth that he purveys with the help of useful idiots like Keys and Gray.
| Bloodbath Thread on 15:42 - May 30 with 917 views | Antti_Heinola | Think it was always going to be a struggle for Sam, but the thing there is probably not to approach it with a chip on your shoulder about how no one gives you enough credit (for a manager who's won nothing, or even got close to it, and whose entire career was basically built around (mostly) not getting relegated, he has received more credit than probably any manager in history); and whatever you do, don't try and complain you're as good-a coach as the best in the world. You are not, never have been, never will be, and it'll only make you look foolish when you are in charge with a second successive team to be relegated under your command. The man's hubris is breathtaking. His comments since about how much you can improve players only makes things worse, coming after Bielsa who so demonstrably improved players (especially yoiung ones) almost beyond recognition. Met him once and he was very nice, actually, and you do need an ego to be a manager, but his whole conduct during this brief reign has been a bit ridiculous. | |

I think Sam has done much better jobs than candle face and hasn’t or doesn’t spunk a clubs money on the same old same old like Defoe and the boy crouchie if you look at the jobs he has done at Bolton, Palace , Everton, Sunderland, West Ham and the players he has bought in over time then his record stands up, What he has done is ruin his career with allowing himself to be tarnished as a relegation firefighter
