Interesting point regarding Harry Isted, would he be on much more than Archer? We could have released Archer and brought Isted in as competition.
Part of our problem in this position is that for a long time we've not had competition, Archers seen as the reserve (and rightly so) but we need someone to push the first choice. The whole bit about too much footballer lifestyle might be avoided if the first choice feels his place is under threat. |  | | |

The one position you want experience and someone who could be a role model for Walsh et al. Keeper values go way beyond sell on potential, they breed confidence to the rest of the team. Great signing, and would have been even without the financial constraints. We have very little experience in the squad so if you’re going to sign a senior pro, an experienced keeper makes a lot of sense. Hopefully he’s not too rusty.
Smyth, Dykes renewing, and now Begović is way, way better than I was expecting. Given the hole we’re in I don’t think the club could have done any better so far. | |
