Non-League day Saturday- where ya going? on 07:07 - Mar 20 by WestonsuperR
Weston S Mare v Chesham. Weston are on the cusp of the playoffs!
That should be a comfortable win for WSM.
Chesham are going through a horrible period after the rest of the league worked out how to play against their direct style. I will still be regulary looking at X & Flash Scores hoping for a Chesh victory!

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime." (Mark Twain)
Find me on twitter @derbyhoop and now on Bluesky

Clapton CFC v Croydon - Southern Counties East Football League Division One. My first visit to the Old Spotted Dog ground.
My sister going to be at this one.
Complicated by there now being 2 Clapton teams but my paternal grandfather was a regular at the OSD between the world wars. We latterly found out from his diaries that our Dad too was a keen supporter in his youth despite not showing much interest in football in later life.
The family lived in Forest Gate which is where the OSD is (and not Clapton, for the uninitiated.)

The 'other' Clapton has now folded I understand so there is now only one Clapton.
Little documentary about them here:

Didn’t know that. The FC at one point took out an injunction (successfully) against the CFC preventing them from calling themselves The Tons. The FC claimed to be the genuine inheritors of the club name and history.
Obviously not the case now then!

50 people went to their last game, and CCFC get between 300 - 600 most home games don't they so I think the proof is in the pudding.
A nice day out, albeit a woke one.

Just been talking about non-league day on Talksport. Stuart Pearce promoting it and going to 3 games today along with the founder of NL day . Well remember watching Pearce on many occasions at Wealdstone before they sold out to Tesco. Didn't realise that the founder of NL day (James Doe) is a QPR/Harrow Borough fan who conceived the idea watching an R's friendly in Tavistock when Warnock in charge.

Just back from Hanwell Town. 502 in attendanc. Saw a fair few Rs there. The Geordies got a late winner. A great afternoon. Austin had a couple of disallowed goals. Will definitely go back to Hanwell Town for a game

Decent enough game finished 4-1 to Lewes but what I really loved was the ground. A thing of non-league beauty with the pitch below the level of the stands so there’s a good view from all sides. Right by the station and good pubs nearby. 1200 in attendance which I’m told is better than usual and the layout of the ground meant it felt like more.

How was Erith Dave? Thats my local team they been playing quite well of late
Used to watch a bit of Erith in their ‘&Belvedere’ days back in the 80s…a stiff walk south out of the estate. My mate used to play CB…very industrially… for E&B
