Bacon sandwich 11:01 - Oct 2 with 4325 viewshubble

Medium sliced white, loads of butter, crispy bacon, brown sauce.

Toasted? Lettuce? Don't be silly. And don't talk to me about ketchup.

Thick sliced white bread from the local bakers (fresh that day, still slightly warm), butter, 5 slices of streaky bacon (a bit crisp on the edges), this is the controversial bit ... brown sauce and ketchup (puts tin hat on).
Optional luxury enhancement, fried egg (with runny yoke).

We had a similar thread to this a few years back.
I think my favourite post at the time, and that still stands, is that if you need to consider putting red or brown sauce on a bacon sandwich, then you simply haven't got enough butter on it.

Raw onions are the devil's shit though. Eating raw onions seems impossible. You should at least soak them to get the shitty tasty off them. I don't eat onions unless I slowly fry them in olive oil, butter with a bit of salt and brown sugar.

I'll tell you who else likes raw onions: ISIS.

As for brown sauce (or ketchup): sugary piss.

White bread, lightly toasted. Buttered for her pleasure. Back bacon (f**k yo streaky shit) pan fried in butter. Little bit of garlic powder maybe. Lettuce is okay but unnecessary. Just give me the bacon, bread and butter mainly.

Personally, you could pair bacon with dogs turd and it would still be a triumph.

Each to their own.

My own, is either:

White fresh cut bloomer with plenty of butter, salt and pepper and ketchup.

or

Toasted, with lettuce, tomato and plenty of mayo (this also works wonderfully well with a granary bap, but you need to double the bacon).

A little tip for the perfect crispy bit of fat on the bacon - once you've got half decent colour on the meat, overlap your bacon so that the meat side sits on top of the fat edge underneath - this will add a little bit of weight to keep the underside of the fat in contact with the hot pan, whilst also adding heat and a bit of hot fat to the topside of the fat... you end up with deliciously crisp fat.

The real debate is grilled vs frying pan... obviously, I'm a pan man... and overweight.

White bread, fried crispy bacon. Ketchup.
Let's not over complicate it.

Ketchup does not belong anywhere near Bacon or any breakfast...end of.

Brown sauce all the way unless its BLT time then plenty of Mayo.

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!

I hate ketchup so I always add mustard instead and it's much better.

One of life's delicacies. I normally only eat wholemeal or soughdour but raid the wife's white bread for a bacon sandwhich.

A good quality white bread on the thick side, butter, back bacon and HP Sauce.

As for the other subject; a good quality white bread on the thick side, butter, beef, raw red onion.

Good white bread - English Mustard on one piece, HP on the other. No butter anywhere near it - In the Satan’s group of foods.

Crispy smoked bacon.

Yes, we have Naked, due to nitrites or something? Only problem is that the slices are a bit thin and I like succulent meat and crispy fat. Managed that on Sunday with careful use of the air fryer - I complimented myself.

Naked bacon is superb.
May I suggest white pudding which is popular in Ireland . Spread it like a pate on wholemeal toast.
Heavenly.

I go with butter and Marmite. Also put Marmite on the toast when I have egg on toast.

If you use the far superior cut, streaky bacon, you have no need for this weighing down palaver as streaky stays in contact with the pan unlike the awful, tasteless back bacon which curls up and cooks unevenly….not that I’ve given it a great deal of thought.

Only ever brown sauce with bacon.

First things first, the bacon has to be smoked and none of this low salt malarkey, and just cooked properly not crispy

I do enjoy toasted but ultimately, fried bread (fried in the bacon pan) adds a new dimension.

Anything other than brown sauce is just wrong
