I'd be tempted to put Stones in the middle of that defence at the weekend. |
I’d be tempted to play my old mum at centre half instead of the current lot. Both are good defenders but together, they are terrible. I can only think they are terrified due to the full backs. Lewis Hall should be there but can only work with what we’ve got. I’d go Burns and Stones, O’reilly has to play because no one else. Right back? Maybe we do have to go with Rice and play Anderson with Bellingham. |  | | |

He’s playing on the edge of the area so he doesn’t get to start moves from further back and the ball often passes him. He did combine well with Saka to play him in for the cross that Gordon returned for the first goal. Doesn’t press well out of possession though. |  | | |

Spence instead of TAA is bewildering to me.
Tuchel seems to spend the whole game screaming at Spence about how terrible he is. |
It’s not working out when not many thought it would.
Still, maybe it’s partly because when he shouts at Spence, thats where it ends. If it was TAA he was shouting at you've got the sullen response, media briefings, infighting in camp etc. and he would be shouting at his defending too - though at least he can put the ball on a six pence going forward!

England are going there with not much time to acclimatise, which could be a problem.
Even if we get through it could take a lot out of the players and there's only a few days to prepare for the semis.
Let's hope we can get the job done against Mexico in ninety minutes. |

That post hydration team in the second half is the ONE. Play Rice at RB and stick Eze in midfield. Gordon and Saka wide. We looked SO much better with that personnel. Width and ability to play through the lines.

Eze also played close to Kane in and around the penalty area pulling defenders towards him and giving Kane a bit more space, which was a smart move by Tuchel. | | | |

Rogers was the invisible man against Panama and had been in wretched form for Villa the last couple of months of the season. Think he’s played himself out of the team.
Just play the team that post hydration break team with Stones in for Guehi or Konsa.

Madueke and Rashford, in particular, played themselves out of the side. Rice at RB allows us to get another ball player on the pitch to execute moves like the one that led to the first. And that current centre back pairing is a disaster. They are all over the pitch positionally. We need Stones’ experience and organisation back there. | | | |

TAA never turned up for early Tuchel squads so that left him out of the picture. He also clearly doesn't rate him and wanted James as his first choice which was always a risk but I'd agree with him that James is a better player.
The mistake made, and I say this with hindsight, was playing James in the group games, should have saved him for the knockouts |  | | |
