Surely once you are sentenced then you go to jail and your legal team then appeals the decision and a court date is set for the appeal.
The Judge doesn't say ''I am sentencing you to two years imprisonment, one year suspended. Are you going to appeal?''

Like I say, they'll have just copied and pasted that thing from the Belgian reports this morning. QPR ring them up and say "errrr guys" and then they just edit the online story.

I feel for him on a human level, not knowing anything about the specifics of the case, as a man in a very tough prison system with a young child - yeah. I feel sorry for most people sent to prison for petty crimes. Prison doesn't work by and large, that's why they're so full of repeat offenders. But realise that may be a minority view here. |
Reports state that the driver suffered a fractured skull after being hit on the head with a rock. If true, that's not a petty crime. [Post edited 23 Feb 16:07]

Probably depends on the crime, the length of sentence and whether he is deemed a flight risk. As he is very easy to locate (except for a number of Championship defenders) he may well have been bailed pending the appeal. |  | | |

I don't think it is jumping to any conclusions sadly. The two reports say the same thing. The Sun might be a dreadful paper but contrary to popular belief it is not going to make up something like that. |
Looks like they have made it up, because the club's since published a statement saying nothing has been concluded yet. They have a history of making this stuff up. Remember the points deduction and guilty verdict? We were not charged with any offences punishable by anything other than a fine and eventually we were only found guilty of a fraction of the charges we did face anyway. There was never going to be a points deduction, but the Sun decided that not only was it possible, but it was already decided and set to be implemented days before the verdict.
This is what they do. It's all they do.
Now I have no knowledge of Chair's case at all; what the likely outcome and possible sentences might be, are completely unknown to me, so I can't say for certain that the Sun won't possibly get it right this time, but if they do, it will have been a lucky guess. [Post edited 23 Feb 15:20]
