I've been rather hypnotised by Julian Lage for many months now. He's a jazz guitarist who plays solo, in his own band and with other musicians. Saw him play with saxophonist Joe Lovano last year.
I love watching him play as well as listening to his stuff. He's not only a superb technician, but also plays with real feeling and often with humour which you can see in his facial expressions.
This example is a lovely lazy blues piece:
Who's yours?

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime." (Mark Twain)

Scott Gorham was pretty special back in day .
Scott Gorham / Brian Robertson
Scott Gorham / Gary Moore
I would struggle to choose a favourite from the three of these guys but it really does show what a GREAT band Thin Lizzy was. Here is one of my favourite Scott solos

Used to watch the original Lizzy guitarist , Eric Bell play at the Archway tavern back in the eighties. Had a Saturday night residency with Jonny Feighan another decent axeman who was the Horselips main man . Scott was the coolest dude that ever walked on stage.

But David Gilmour is about as good as it gets . One caveat to that though. Gilmour’s solo’s are the most heartfelt and full of emotion and feeling . But what makes them so great , is the music, orchestration and arrangements of the band behind his incredible solo’s . He follows the music in increments too which just adds layers to amazing pieces of music like below and High Hopes. But this solo and what accompanies is magnificent . Godlike

I've always had a thing for rhythm players, so people like Malcolm Young and even Rick Parfitt were the sort of guys I loved to watch live. However, seeing as they're both keeping lead players honest in the next life, I would say Scott Ian (Anthrax, SOD and Mr Bungle) makes me smile.
May I present, Mr Bungle: like Frank Zappa got into King Crimson and got them to play thrash.
(Side note: Dave Lombardo of Slayer on drums; Scott Ian from Anthrax on rhythm; Mike Patton of Faith No More on vox; Trey Spruance on lead and Trevor Dunn on bass. What a line up!)
'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

That's a great shout.
Different guitarist on this album I think, but first time I heard this track it made quite the impression on me.
