It’s ridiculous that the efl leave it this late. Points deduction should have been applied earlier I.e before Xmas. Apparently it’s a minor breach so they will probably bottle it and apply it next season. Given their position even a 2 point deduction this year puts them in bottom 3. |  | | |

Can they charge them prior to receiving the certified accounts, or can they be brought based on the financial forecast?
If they have to wait for the accounts , it is madness for the rules to state that deductions will apply to the following season as it will always be March/April that the charges are made. Or is it that charges have to be made in the following season, but penalties could be for later seasons?

You would hope so & if that is the case the EFL would have little defence for the late charge.

It’s interesting to see the timeline on this bearing in mind that the rules state that any breaches (this one relates to the 24-25 season) must be dealt with before the end of the subsequent season i.e. 2 May
The deadline for WBA to submit their accounts to the EFL Club Financial Reporting Unit (CFRU) was 31 December.
If there’s a breach the CRFU issue a compliance report and the club has 14 days to respond.
Then there must be a compliance hearing within 28 days of the compliance report being issued.
You have to assume we’re in the period of 28 days after the compliance report. Which seems unlikely to be resolved before the 2 May and begs the question – what were the CRFU doing sitting on it since 31 December?
They make the rules and can’t enforce their own timelines. We have a football regulator now, hopefully he’s asking a few questions. | |

I’d thought back at start of March it would be Cov and Ipswich with Saints winning the play offs. It does look like the Saints are coming home with a wet sail and if they nick it I think the Play Offs are wide open as Ipswich might melt.

Yeh unless this West Brom points deduction becomes a thing then Leicester increasingly requiring snookers. Horrible fixtures as well - Pompey A, Hull H, Millwall H, Blackburn away all need to win themselves.

No, he hasn't. Southampton have their FA Cup semi on the penultimate weekend of our season. I doubt he was excited about playing it yesterday either as Southampton might just have had less to play for in 10 days time if they couldn't make the top two and were guaranteed a play off spot. I think Southampton were supposed to be playing them on April 25th,but they’re in the FA cup sf that weekend.
I’m surprised that the police allowed Portsmouth and Southampton to be at home on the same night,but Blackburn couldn’t play on Wednesday as they’re playing Friday and the Portsmouth v Ipswich game had already been postponed twice so I doubt if fans would’ve been happy to switch to a Wednesday at such short notice. |  | | |
