DWQPR ''Nardi was not at fault for the first free kick''

If he hadn't moved to his right as the kick was taken then he is saving it. You see so many keepers doing this.

I know that every move that Nardi makes now is put under the microscope but with a Seny type keeper we are conceding much less.

If the keeper gets done on his side from that angle of free kick it’s his fault regardless of the accuracy of the strike. If the guy perfectly gets it over the wall and into the other corner then fair enough but the taker is relying on goalkeeper error by putting it that side.

I don't want to pile in on Nardi. He looks low on confidence and that's a horrible feeling to take into a game. However, he's been called a good shot stopper by many and for me, his performance yesterday was another example that he really isn't.

What I meant by that statement is that he should not have even been facing a free kick had it not been for Cook’s inexcusable ‘defending’. The ball was an aimless punt which Cool by his idiocy kept in play and led to the free kick.

Goal 1 - Far too easy for the winger to cross the ball into a very dangerous area and we were asleep for the cross. I will not name names but Nardi was not at fault.
Goal 2 - Very silly foul to give away so early in the 2nd half in a very dangerous area of the pitch. Good strike for the goal, Nardi is clean.
Goal 3 - Once again a poor free kick to give away, another very nice strike by the Ipswich midfield, however it was the side of the goal that Nardi should be stopping the shot.
Goal 4 - Furlong started the move in the Ipswich half, moved it forward very quickly, he likewise continued his advancement unmarked and received the return ball which he crossed very well indeed to the Ipswich man who was completely unmarked for their goal. Nice goal, poor defending & Nardi did not have a chance. He was not at fault.

So in summery.....Nardi will be disappointed with letting the 3rd, and arguably the 'killer goal'

Think you've got the order of the goals 3 and 4 wrong - 3 was from a cross and 4 was the second free kick.

On Goal 2, Nardi shuffled to his right as Nunez ran in to take the free kick, if Nardi doesn't move to the right, he would have saved the shot.

I agree but Nardi has had two months to get his head round the situation.

Nardi is a professional so should be able to deal with being dropped & then getting an unexpected opportunity. Although he hasn’t been treated particularly well by the club should be motivated enough to play well enough to prove the manager wrong & attract other clubs for a potential transfer away.

He’s a generally a good shot reflex shot stopper (as at Derby) but hasn’t improved fundamental weaknesses at crosses & set plays. More Nervousness & uncertainty spreading through the defence.

Need to go & get an experienced replacement in the January window even if it’s a loan.

The ball was either going through to Nardi or out of play, Cook was back peddling, why didn’t Nardi call for it. Just for the record I haven’t been brave enough to look at the video but from near half way in the Stan Bowles stand that’s how it looked to me and those around me. So free kick possibly forgive but the through ball not.

I've just brought myself to watch the highlights for the first time. The set ups for both free kicks is shocking. First one he does the Tony Roberts trick of building a big wall then standing behind it - the lethal little step to the right at the last second opening up his side for the shot.

The second, fck me, what is he thinking? A three man wall of Saito, Poku and Burrell? What did he think was going to happen?

Fuming all over again.

You would think professional pride comes into play. But if your bosses have made it clear they don't rate you but then want you to cover, can't blame him if he's not as his best.

Nardi was very poor and should have at least organised a proper 4 man wall with height for the 4th goal, especially given how the taker had already scored a free kick from a similar position.

However, the main issue withhis poor form is no doubt that the club made it clear in pre season that he was not wanted . I blame the recruiting team for not signing another keeper rather than promoting Joe Walsh , even more so after his poor displays in the earlier friendlies.

On yesterday's defeat, the team was poor as was the selection of the starting line up.
If RND needed to be rested, what was wrong with putting Field in at left back as he was at Swansea? This was Stephan's error.

Kone was also poor and looked slow ,weak in possession and reluctant to shoot. Morrison and Cook also had disappointing performances allowing Hirst two simple headed goals.

Overall that was an embarrassment and I don't recall seeing the fans emptying the ground so early in the game, from around the 70th minute.

Sadly , I am not really expecting much better on Wednesday night either. In my view, confidence in the players appears to be ebbing away and they are struggling to score more than once in almost every game this season.

Say it as it is. He's shyte and costing us games.

Liability that had been found out last season. Club failed to move him on, which says more about them than Nardi.

Not only failed to move him on, but told him he wasn't wanted and then ended up relying on him. Second summer in a row that's happened, with similar results.

If you want him gone, fine, it's football. Shake his fcking hand and sign another goalkeeper. We've really botched that position this season and will now be scrabbling round paying a premium to fix it in January.

Instead of blaming Nardi, shouldn't we give credit to Nunez. Sure, Nardi took a small step to his right, which might have been enough to make it harder to save. The shot was right in the corner, with great pace.
The commentators, including Sinton, were saying if the taker curls 1 over the wall I to the top corner there isn't much the keeper can do. The deflection off Saito meant it was closer to the keeper than if it had gone in direct. Still, virtually unsaleable.

No.
They were two fcking awful goals for any keeper at any level to concede let alone a pro playing in the second tier of English football.

The Horses second was a killer and I do blame Cook for that as it was the cheapest of cheap free kicks to give away

Been a staunch defender of Nardi and I still think he’s the best keeper at the club that I’ve seen play.
Sadly that now seems to be a huge indictment of the club rather than a huge tick in Nardis box

Keeper is a massive issue for us now
Followed by left back, right back cover, progressive centre midfielder, imposing mobile forward scoring one in two etc, etc, etc

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Agree. I think, maybe wrong, that the small step to the right Nardi took to his right for the first FK, he made because Nunez made out like he was going to go to his left over or round the wall. If correct it makes Nunez FK even better.

It's still on Nardi, sorry. Once you're in your set-up, the simple rule for keepers is "react, don't predict".

Normally, when a keeper comes out of his set-up early like Nardi did, it's nerves. Doubt. Lack of confidence. I feel for Nardi, he's going through a rough time, and the goal is a lonely place when your form deserts you.

He has cost us two goals in the last two matches, Derby last week when he should undoubtable caught the lob back into his 6 yard box and this week when he must do far batter with the free kick that he conceded on his side of the goal.

I am sure the Club are reviewing arrangements......top priority but in the meantime he needs to be helped get over his poor form.

Saw the fourth goal from a clip from Ellerslie Road and the wall placement is the sort of thing an under-10s goalkeeper would be embarrassed by.

Bit surprised Hamer hasn’t had a go in the Dev squad just to get a bit of sharpness should he be called upon. Feels more of a risk to chuck him in than stay with Nardi. Cooper (from Jan) would be a better bet than either IMO.
