Our Pitch 20:41 - Dec 20 with 14774 viewsQPRsince54

Does anyone know what's happened to our pitch?? All along the Stan Bowles Stand it looked like it has been under water since the last game. It's in a terrible state. Bit of a worry that we are going into the winter with it like this.

No game on the pitch now until 24th Jan - hopfeully they can carry out some remedial work to improve it?

FA Youth Cup match on 10th?

Watching Fulham’s game and the pitch looks OK nothing like ours so the problems cannot be connected to the weather

Wednesday mate I was watching with quite rightly pointed out that the only thing worse than the quality of football at times today was the pitch

Someone give GreenThumb a call. They look after my lawn and its full of weeds that look like grass when they're cut short.

Don't know the extent of 'groundwork' at Kilhan, but surely having an association with a significant sized construction company, we should have some idea of the problem, if not the fix?

Why do they keep watering the pitch when it is in such a state, especially when it was freezing at LR today.

That's the worst weed mate. I used to work for a company like that its impossible to remove that as its essentially a wild grass

Yes, didn't notice that - could probably do with it being played somewhere else

Will surely be played at Heston unless there's some ruling about playing FA Youth Cup ties on training ground pitches.

Just in from the club - could everyone who has pieces of the astroturf please return them in good time for the next home game.

Never seen two neighbouring houses one of which has rotten windows and the other doesn't (UPVC excepted obviously)?

After our game today I switched over to watch the last 25 minutes of lids v manure.
Their pitch was in constant shade all day,and had previous markings off a recently played rugby league game on it,and looked as good as any pitch I’ve seen this weekend..
Some serious questions need to be asked and answered.. local council pitches are in better condition..🤦🏼‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

How long does it take to relay a new pitch? Can we do a remedial job before the summer as this can’t continue. It will have an impact on injuries and how we progress moving up the league. It’s actually embarrassing seeing comments on social media / tv from other fans of other clubs. Makes us look amateurish. We have had a bit of cold weather for the last few days (not exactly abnormal at this time of the year). So what is different to this year compared to previous years? We only relaid it fairly recently. Something has clearly happened. Surely the youth game on Saturday has to be moved to preserve it for the first team? Still radio silence from the club regarding the pitch.

The danger on a pitch this bad is the ball is bouncing harder and faster off the surface making control that little bit more difficult and results in unnecessary lunging to recover the situation.

Wasn’t a dirty game but I can’t recall so many players going down with genuine injuries, either requiring extended treatment or leaving the field.

I can understand the watering, better a quagmire than what’s going on at the moment.

Club should be on the blower to the installers and have them spend the next three weeks sorting this mess out.

drainage seems ok as not holding water. dark green circles around middle of pitch, sprinklers?? the ellerslie side is a rough cabbage patch , even if limited daylight can't explain the poor state.
it is uneven so will cause anxiety in players, fearing injury also uneven bounce, harder to control, predict .
maybe ok for sunday pub league but not a championship game live on tv to the world.
a club statement is overdue as to problem and solution.

Agree there, everyone seem to second guess their touch also it is dangerous. Varane hurt himself right in front of where i was sitting. Pretty sure the pitch played a part in that, it looks like it gives( the watering cannot help) but is hard underneath

Poor stuff from whoever is responsible and if i was JS would be doing my nut

Ye, they're the sprinklers. If you were there early enough, you saw them popping up and creating little puddles.

The pitch looking so cut up this early on - it's only going to get worse and more churned through Jan and Feb with all the sht weather. God knows what we're going to be playing on come March

We certainly shouldn't be playing that youth cup game on it IMO.
