Carrying on as Match Thread Op - "winners stays on", after good result but not so great performance against Sheff Weds.

Got a feeling, we will be heading for our usual defeat in the cup, and with four key players injured, am guessing it wont be a top team at all selected. And think West Ham will play a top side as a defeat here and i think Nuno loses his job.

Hopefully Mr Ronnie is at least in the squad also.

Regards the result, let us pray !!!

Think we can be proud of that. Effort and commitment across the team and a superb captain's performance from Jimmy. More importantly our players looked like they wanted it and felt like they deserved to be there, and absolutely refused to be bullied - loved Kone flooring Castellanos in some of the pre-corner grappling. A far cry from completely wilting against Leicester last season and if only we weren't wracked with injuries we could have gotten over the line.

The team can hold their head up, going 1 down, getting back in it against a team a division above. In the good old days would have got a replay at our place. We gave it a go and can't ask for more. Just need to cut out conceding those late 1st half or early 2nd half goals, a bit of a theme with us this season.

I know we didn't get tanked but I was actually disappointed with the quality we showed out there. Not much going forward, people saying we gave it a goog go,can't actually agree with that,I'm usually positive with most stuff but was really underwhelmed with it . Just really poor quality going forward. West Ham were there for the taking i thought and we didn't take it too them.

We just lack two or three real top Championship players. Without them, we always be just good enough...but no better. Injuries are pissing me off more than the result today. We could really have given them something to think about with Burrell and Chair.

Something to cheers us up a bit, Man United are going out as well.

Thought we gave it a good go. Pity we didn't have Chair, Burrell, Poku available as that would have given us better strength on the bench.

West Ham looked like a decent championship side - Summerville was the difference, even Bowen looked average apart from one cross and a couple of corners. They are bang in trouble unless they can bring in another 4 or 5 players bearing in mind they've already spent £45mil approx in this window already.

On the tube home. Not read any comments yet but nothing to be ashamed of today.

West Ham weren’t all that and will go down. Probably had a bit more pace than us but that’s about it.
They had to go to extra time against a mid table Championship team and persistently fouling us every time we broke forward, that’s how desperate they were.
I thought the team gave their all, Kolli really worked his socks off. Kone was looking a little bereft, then scored! The defence linked up well and passed their way out of trouble comfortably.
Walsh had a good game too, not at fault for either goal.

We had other chances but just missed that cutting edge.

QPR fans excellent and everyone saying how bad the ground is, is right. Awful place to watch football. So hard to get any atmosphere. Hardly heard them when the first scored and then heard them more fo the second, that’s how desperate they were.
The stadium is made out of a steel frame with higher gaps all over the place and any filled in gaps was just tarpaulin so the wind whistled around the ground, no protection at all.

Can’t fault the team for the spirit and effort. Kolli, Dunne, Cook and Walsh in particular. I watched on TNT and the Rs fans did us proud too, drowned out the home crowd for large chunks of the game.if Burrell and Chair were there I think we’d have won.

Overall I thought we were ok but feel like it was an opportunity missed, particularly after we equalised. I think West Ham were there for the taking but once it went to extra time there was only going to be one winner. Fans were excellent, as always.

Very proud of the side there. Stephan set us up well. Summerville was the difference. That’s what I want to see from a qpr side. Win, lose or draw. And to be fair to them, I was running out of steam come extra time!

Chair and Burrell could have swung it, as we'd have got amongst their central defenders and kept possession a lot better - both of which we struggled to do during the game. Varane would just have trotted around in his usual half-dazed way and created nothing.

Hayden all day long for me. Was also impressed with Morgan when he came on. Constantly looking to turn and progress the ball forward, unlike Madsen who just wanted to play a five yard pass sideways in that last 10 minutes.

Makes you think what we would of done with Chair, Varane and Burrell.

We would have won, I have no doubt that, Burrell would have caused them many problems.

West Ham gave a poor showing today as a Premier League side with Summerville being the difference between the two sides, Bowen was very quiet.

Pleased that Ronnie didn't play today bearing in mind the injuries we were picking up.

Dunne and Cook were immense today I thought, I usually smile when people write Cook off on here and seem pleased that he might not be around next season.

Don't think they can spend any more money, aren't they in financial difficulties at the moment?

Watching by the fire I thought Madsen was poor today and missed a huge chance to impress a PL team whomight want a player of his skill fromthislevel.
Again not the same as being in the staduium but felt strongly we could have won that in extra time but nobody to get that windfall goal for us .
Knew about Summerville fromhis Leeds days just too quick and was up for the fight pure class .As was Bowen he was excellent I thought despite the poster above comments .
Lets bring this performance level onto the league we can make top 6 easily

Thought we looked pretty decent. Cooke and Dunne terrific. Smyth lively.

Adamson and Bennie both looked promising, Bennie’s opportunity to break through now. He looked quicker than I could remember of him.

Only disappointment was the quality of final deliveries in 1st half by Dembele and Mbengue. Quite wasteful at times, one led to them countering and scoring the opener. Sucker punch the timing of that.

Walsh looked all over the place for the 1st two corners, but then composed himself well with a good performance.

Two more injuries, both wingers. Vale and Smyth on the wings next week?

I was watching with my brother in law, a big West Ham fan, and we agreed on Bowen, should have influenced the game more.

We know we won't see the same performance levels unfortunately, teams lift themselves for these games. The prime example being Plymouth who beat Liverpool in the cup last season and reverted to type straight afterwards.

Just back.

Thought we did well overall. Lack of options from bench killed us, for first 20 minutes of second half looked the team in ascendency but the subs from both sides swung game (as expected against any prem team).

Kolli stand out for me. Showed for it well, linked well, held the ball well. Can’t fault the team or manager, did all they really could with injuries etc.

As for that stadium / general match day experience…give me LR every day of the week. If a ground move means anything resembling that Reading, Swansea, et al I’ll give up my ST now. Apocalyptic place to watch football

On way back what a terrible ground in a terrible place.
I thought we did OK, a real opportunity missed though as the one time we went after them we scored. Thought that was where we missed Burrell so much. Other than that we were pretty cagey which I guess made sense but I can't help but feel many a championship side would have had it up 'em for longer then the 5 mins we managed.

Although we deserved to take the game to extra time sadly our dismal fitness levels meant we never looked likely.

Still, it took a piece of absolute brilliance to beat us so no shame in that.

And, for once, we put out a full team to try and win a cup tie. Progress.

Writing this in a boozah called the Bow Bells, me old China plates, bouncer told Master Sheen to hide his Compaq navy shirt! Fantastic day out today, for all the talk of developing talent today showed the value of old heads like Cook and Hayden who understand precisely how much better their opponents are and what it’s safe to get away with. Great noise, fantastic goal. As someone who went to Coventry in 1996, Wimbledon in 1997 and the cup final that didn’t happen, I’m thrilled to see them go toe to toe today.

qpr team did all they could imo, v a strong prem side, was the new 40m? striker their scorer?? anyway i can't fault any qpr player , we HAD A GO got level and lost to a very good goal. choker but we were not mugged off.
downside, long walks, i think sherpas would have struggled getting to upper tier seats, long way from pitch, high roof means no atmosphere , massive pitch .
great support from us.

I hope we can see more team performances like that in the league.

Genuinely feel there is a team spirit, so hope they all have the playoffs as a goal.

Thought everyone did well today, calling anyone out would be silly. They were poor and their fouling and time wasting was embarrassing.

First time back there since 2012, looks very shabby now. And as everyone knows it’s awful for football.

On train home too. What a shithole that place is. Our C team narrowly losing to a Premier League team is no disgrace. Let’s hope our injuries today are not too bad but Saito’s didn’t look good.
