I thought we were the better team all game.

Hull were poor but we played some decent stuff. Could have had 5 at the end. Appreciate Hull were going for it and pushing up, but we countered really dangerously and were actually pressing quite well their centre backs.

Vale’s movement and showing for the ball was good.
Kone worked incredibly hard (even if I think he looks shattered) and took his goal well having missed easier chances.
Thought Mbengue had a very decent game. Gave us so much more there going forward.

Fair play to the players and Stephan. Deserved win.

Can we build on this result? Hope so.

Agreed.

We do look so good at times on the counter with our 4-4-2

Seems to suit us when we play the better sides, but we need a Plan B when we play teams nearer the bottom, who we seem to struggle to break down

I don’t know if this has been mentioned on this thread but Kone, with all that strapping around his knee, really does need his minutes managed.

Southampton on Tuesday will be a very interesting team selection as we’ve got to manage some of those players’ minutes.

Cook was rested for this game apparently so you’d expect him to play.
Does Kone start?
Do they try Bennie and Kolli with a view to Saturday’s Sheff Utd game ?

I've never seen a side that wants to roll over and lose the game as easily as Hull did today. It took the R's 10 minutes to cross the halfway line. Hull seemed to give up straight after the own goal was scored.

It should have been six one. Kolli laid on a couple of beautifully weighted passes for Kone to mis-hit, Kolli was always showing for the ball and he also pressed the goalie when ever he had a chance. He suffers because other team members don't move for a pass from him I thought he played a really intelligent game today, I hope he gets selected again on Tuesday

Quite pissed off we're still 13th after that!

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

He's scored 8 goals in 10 DS games as a forward this season and was clearly well beyond that level of football for those who watched. It'll be no surprise to see him as a player that can chip in with some goals at senior level once he's had the time to adjust and develop

Yep, should be playing regularly at L1 or L2 level, but had to stay here getting odd minutes here ndcthere 'cos Bicycle Ben can't keep players fit.

Same with Kolli, who remains miles off it at the moment. The odd great 20 mins here and there of excellence is not enough.

Can we go out yet?

One thing that has impressed me is the discipline to stay in shape and deny the opposition space. It starts from the front and both Kolli and Kone worked hard to limit their options.
If the front 2 make life difficult, it's so much easier for the rest of the team
They only had 2 attempts on target, the goal and Walsh's save. The goal was preventable with both RND and Ronnie culpable. The way Hull started I didn't think it was going to be so comfortable.

Such a weird game. After 70 minutes I don't think you could have really say we played "well" and if they'd snuck one there and won it we'd be complaining about another poor performance. Instead Bennie produces a bit of magic and then we saw it out comfortably.

Funny how the result changes your whole perspective on the performance.

That said we deserve a ton of credit for a) going ahead and b) after we went ahead we looked far more likely to score the next goal, and did. Would have been easy to go back into our shells and just hope to see out the game but we were much the better team from that point on.

I’ve given up reading these threads during the game. There was one recently where we went a goal down early on (oh the temerity) and it was all doom and gloom, players and managers getting pelters and we ended up winning.

I love match threads and watch every one I can because its real time emotion and you are sharing it with QPR fans sitting in front of their tv,computer or phone .
Of course we are going to say what we feel regardless of how it ends up its minute by minute and multiple posters end up making fun of their own comments later on.
Be honest how many swore at Kone for his pananka style chip when he should have hammered it low (like his goal )rounded the keeper etc I know I did .
Its all about connection to QPR and typing madly is a huge part of that IMO

Great point.

I would be in favour of resting him. He’s either carrying a knock or is absolutely shagged. And you need him for the run in and for next year with a full pre season under his belt. If we’re going to give it a go, one game is worth it. Don’t repeat the Burrell mistake.

I agree and with the Burrell situation as a warning. He looked absolutely knackered but worked so hard both with and without the ball and I think it’s probably a knock AND being exhausted.

Thank you Hunter

I said around the 3rd page of this thread, that we were not really doing much wrong. People were saying its going to be a long afternoon and the back 4 were asleep etc etc

Mbengue looked much more disciplined, no card so thats progress too. And Vale worked well with him to track back.

Saito is not the strongest physically, but he is like one of those dolls that falls over and just gets back up again and keeps trying. The ref's give him little protection either.

It was a deserved win, and around the 70th minute several of us here said it was there for the taking, and we did just that... So huge credit to the boys and JS

Yes agree with that. Saito may not be in his best form at the moment but he kept going and troubled their defenders the whole game.

Only conceded 1 goal in 4 away games!

Didn't see the game yesterday, but credit to Walsh. At the start of the season I thought he looked really shaky, but he's really grown into his role.

Fantastic post .

I’ve not read through this thread past the last page or 2 as I often do as I’ve just not had time and I appreciate a few can go overboard good or bad.
But I see a lot of griping about people being overly critical or whatever and I myself hate terms like ‘bedwetters’ which are used by people to belittle the original post just because they don't necessarily agree.
It’s different if people are being abusive of insulting which a few were about Bennie last week for example , but this whole stupid sport and supporting a team is about emotion, good or bad .
Let’s try not to suppress that , just because you might not necessarily agree, either way .

Good one SMP !

Let’s hope he’s saving that one for an accidental Partridge moment or that it’s used in Alternative Commentary highlights, should they ever return.

I thought we did really well today, some of the criticism is ridiculous, read Hull fans comments, our strikers dominated their defence, we controlled the game without having the possession, we could have scored 5 easily. Best away performance for sometime.

I thought Saito had a better game, it can't be easy being a tricky winger playing on cabbage patch whether it's ours or Hulls.

Said it before, will say it again, Bennie reminds me of a young Ainsworth, limited ability on the ball, some pace but not lightening, but works hard, combatitive very direct and today a very Ainsworth like goal.

Walsh also excellent today especially in commanding his area

Agree that Bennie shows similarities to Ainsworth and that thunderbolt yesterday was trademark Gareth.

The other player he reminds me of is Stuart Wardley. Limited technical ability but a great eye for goal. Bennie's had some close efforts in previous first team appearances and his goal scoring record for the Development side is very impressive. He's certainly not scared to have a shot and I think he can be a useful member of our first team squad in years to come and would be improved further by the right loan next season.
