I cannot believe anybody rates this guy.
He's a total embarrassment under crosses, he's too small and I'm not sure he can even jump.
He is CLEARLY not a viable goalkeeper.
It's a shame, as him aside, we were looking quite good. But you can't win games consistently with a bad goalkeeper - and Walsh is a bad keeper.
Sadly none of our three keepers are good enough and it should have been addressed in the window. [Post edited 24 Feb 21:21]

Not interested in pursuing this pettiness, because I'm boring myself now never mind all the other loftforworders unfortunate enough to be following this thread. But just for clarity my last line never mentioned you or indeed anyone else abusing Walsh at all. What I did say, was speculating on what might happen to him in the future should he be subjected to abuse which could negatively impact his confidence
Now that really is my last word on the matter. |

I think we all agree that Walsh has been mis-managed and should have been loaned out over the past couple of season's in Div 3 or 4 to get vital game time and experience. You also mentioned that ‘form’ had kept him out for half this season. In fact he was out for three months with a broken wrist, which again has severely hampered his development. My point really is that none of this is his fault. He is being picked now and he is hardly doing to say, ‘please don’t play me, I don’t feel ready’ And when you think about it, the remaining game are an ideal environment for him to learn his trade. What his ceiling is, what his value might be in two years time, nobody knows. Will he get that opportunity to develop in the first team? - only the club knows that. But he is here for now and we need to back him not barrack him. We know how much confidence is a major factor in a footballer’s performance. We have seen top class strikers become shot-shy when they hit a lean patch.
GK is the worst position of all, as an error often leads to a goal. A defender mis-times a tackle, he might have a team-mate to bail him out. Mid-field passes the ball to an opponent (ours do that ALL the time) most times no harm done. Striker misses a ‘sitter’, we all moan but even with Bennie at Preston, we cut him some slack. ‘Young player learning his trade’ we say. ‘At least he is getting into the right positions’ we say. Yet for some reason when our keeper (any keeper) makes an error whether it leads to a goal or not, we are down their throats. That is why comments like ‘emmbarrasing’ by the OP are unhelpful. Let’s encourage Walsh to be the best he can be- that’s in all our best interests. Time will tell just how good his ‘best’ is. But we will never see it, if his confidence is shot because of abuse. |

I thought Walsh was younger than what he actually is. I've praised the Rangers leadership for their approach to Madsen but think they've failed with Walsh. He's not played enough games, and a lot of "bad habits", I think he could easily get out of, are probably still a season or 2 away from being ironed out. At 22 I didn't think this was a problem but at 24 and having not played much slightly changes things.
End of the season during Madsen's first year, I thought we saw some glimpses of what he could do and so made a brave call to stick with him. I think now till the end of the season the coaching staff really need to keep a close watch on Walsh for that hint he can step up next season. I'm 50/50 now he's 2 years on from what I thought but if they think there is something there, I'd back them. |  | | |

think all our present keepers have the same faults so it it down to them or is it the type of coaching they are getting every day ? |  |
