I cannot believe anybody rates this guy.
He's a total embarrassment under crosses, he's too small and I'm not sure he can even jump.
He is CLEARLY not a viable goalkeeper.
It's a shame, as him aside, we were looking quite good. But you can't win games consistently with a bad goalkeeper - and Walsh is a bad keeper.
Sadly none of our three keepers are good enough and it should have been addressed in the window. [Post edited 24 Feb 21:21]

A goalie is our number one priority this summer. Had we had a better keeper than Walsh this season we would be top 6 comfortably. I would release Hamer and sell both Cooper and Walsh. Gk position needs a total reset. |
GK is some way down the list of issues we face. RB, LB and CM are all much more urgent this summer.
On a wider point - and not an especially original one tbh - Walsh is a perfect example of how QPR simply don't understand how players develop. He should have spent this year and last out on loan, playing 60-odd games at a lower level. You can't have a youngster with only a dozen professional games in his life as your starting Championship GK. It's nonsense. Bennie is another who should have been sent out this year. Kolli should have been out previously. Seeing Armstrong on the bench for Bristol City today reminded me of how badly we handled his development too. |  | | |

This is my point. There is no comparison so I really think it’s a waste of time.
There is ‘needs developing’ and ‘devoid of any of the raw skills needed to be a good keeper’
Sadly, Walsh is the latter.

But this is kind of my point about keepers needing games before being thrown into the first team at our level - when we signed him Seaman had nearly 200 club games and ten Under-21 international games under his belt. |  |

While Walsh is poor in positioning, jumping, distribution, commanding the box and most of the other goalkeepers’ attributes. He is merely a non-league standard goalkeeper, an experimental toy of the “project “. | | | |

Today summed up why he's miles away from cutting it at this level.
In a rubber so dead even my dog wouldn't play with it he was a bag of nerves, had no confidence and didn't command anything.
That spill above his head would've been the most Walsh like of goals to conceede.
Should've been lobbed from 40 yards after presenting them with the ball but fella got execution all wrong.
A proper dolly effort parried back to a Brizzle striker causing himself more emergency action.
And that's just the first half.
Not his worst game as nothing resulted in a goal but when you've got your own players putting their heads in the hands after you clatter one of your own players and dolly a punch back to the opposition then you know you've got an issue going on.
He might make a GK sometime in the future but if he's Number 1 next season then pull up your lower mid table to flirting with the bottom six chair and light your pipe. |

i dont think he is close to being a championship level goalkeeper currently and maximum we could flog him for in the future for me would be £1.5 million so for me loan out or move on next season. Bring back Cooper. Sell Nardi and bring in a number one goalkeeper who can hit the ground running..
Think we have given Joe a lot of opportunities and he still cant quite match up sadly. Think he will be.moved on at the end of the season.
This experiment hasnt and wont work for me. Invest in better or someone with greater potential.

Seaman wasn’t an international when we signed him in 1986.
My question around Stejskal was - yes - although a seasoned would cup star; he couldn’t speak English and had a terrible start in his debut at Leeds Utd. We took him out of the firing line and re-traduced him when his confidence was back. On that basis, I categorise Stejskal as needing and being granted a degree of ‘development’ into the English game. |  | | |

The double save at almost point blank range was very good. He can do it but his concentration seems to be an issue sometimes. Some blamed him for the Preston goal but that's bollox, it was an excellent finish.
All that said, we need to give Murphy Cooper a chance next season perhaps? |  |

I was there and there always appears a chance of messing up with Walsh.

On the counter, Chris Woods had zero games and was 19 when we brought him and stuck him straight in. He was pretty good for us, but probably peaked at Norwich and Rangers.
I feel sorry for Walsh. He really should have had 60+ games in lower league sides before this season, but has been so unlucky with the timing of injuries. | | | |

This is indeed a forum of opinions, but they should be based on facts, rather than inaccurate comments to ‘strengthen’ your viewpoint. Walsh has made 19 appearances this season, less than half what you claim is needed to provide you with the ‘evidence’ that he is good enough to represent QPR. Perhaps when actually HAS 42 games played for us at senior level, then you can judge his ability more accurately. | | | |

I would put Walsh above Lumley now even with his limited appearances. He is still quite young and will hopefully keep on improving to become a very solid Championship keeper. He is a good size, can kick a ball and seems to also be able to play a risky pass when he sees it. The more games he plays the better he will get.
My favourite all time keeper for QPR is Chris Day. I thought he was magnificent and surprised he never played at a higher level. | | | |

He made some good saves, often at point blank range. The mishandling of the tame (mishit) shot halfway through 1st half would stand out for all the critics. The saves from Riis and Twine, both kow down were decent.
He isn't, yet, a top Championship keeper, although I think the criticism is over the top. He is young, especially for a keeper, and should improve with more experience. | |

For my part, having liked his performances for the DS, I was keen to see how he'd do this season. But my hopes he'd show he was capable of becoming a Championship keeper have withered as the season progressed. My particular issue with him is that he doesn't move his feet enough when facing a shot, which slows down his attempts to reach the ball. That is not a coaching issue but a basic failure on his part.

How long does the club give a player to reach their potential and therefore maximum transfer value?
He's only played 20 odd games so I think he should be given another season before he is deemed surplus.
His performances can be erratic, but he is very young for a GK and he's played less games than both Morgan and Kolli who can both go missing in games. Was Kolli playing yesterday?!
It's a tough one. Yesterday great saves, but he is like a jack-in-a-box at times. I put it down to inexperience. | |
