Middlesbrough Reflection 19:03 - Mar 8 with 3669 viewsbluenwhite10

No complaints today, beaten by the best team that have visited HQ this season.

Boro midfield 3 dominated the game Hackney, Browne and Mcgree.

Boro movement was good and seemed fitter with players always available to receive the ball.

Lots of sloppy short passes today from the Rangers today mainly out of play.

As I have said before the injury crisis on a budget like ours will catch up with you.

MOM Vale today who did alright.

I can see more of the same until 2-3 of the players out come back.

I think Cook needs to start even if it means a back 5.

Hammered again . Empty spaces everywhere. Concourse as quiet as I’ve ever seen them before the game. People are voting with their feet now.
Boro a fine team and will go up .
We have a crippling injury list and that’s a mitigation but FFS can we not even complete a short pass and least get the basics right .
We can’t even do that . I left at three down . Could have left at 1 down as the outcome was inevitable.

We were awful again today.
Middlesbrough were a decent Championship team but hardly world beaters but we allowed them to play us off the park with no resistance or aggression.
Our lack of ability to pass 6 yards or forward successfully meant we created so little.
Stodging up the midfield with Varane, Hayden and Morgan didn’t work at all: all three were terrible.
Stéphan needs to get the formerly injured players back on the pitch asap as the squad he is left with at the moment aren’t going to get him any results I’m afraid.

I think your over egging Boro , they were just dinking chipped balls over the top to run on to , for a better word long ball. But we were just so shite we couldn't cope with this masterful long ball tactic. They will get smashed in the Premier.

AND WHEN I DREAM , I DREAM ABOUT YOU AND WHEN I SCREAM I SCREAM ABOUT YOU!!!!!

No complaints!!!! We didn’t lay a glove on them
Before this game I watched Port vale beat Sunderland, they headed, tackled and ran like their lives depended on it , Sunderland are a premier league team and port vale are down the bottom of league one , there’s no excuse for giving up and not battling
We sat back and let them play like Barcelona for the first 15 minutes , we may as well as played in flip flops and Bermuda shorts
And to top it all you have sheff utds 3rd choice left back and Saito giggling like cretins

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Why is Cook not starting? On the bench we are getting tanked ..something strange going on there. Crying out for his experience.

watch the post match interview with Stéphan mate. Never thought i'd live to witness a QPR manager talking about us like we're Plucky Blyth Spartans from the Gola League taking on Manchester Utd in the 3rd of the FA cup 1979.

And we still had some fans clapping the players at the end of the game. What exactly what you were clapping? Losing is part of football but we were dreadful today. Gave them too much respect. Didn’t do the basics. Fitness poor yet again. Too many players not good enough for this level of football. Kone still unable to hold a ball up. Forever passing the ball out of play. No composure on the ball. We have assembled a squad where we have one out and out striker available. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Nourry and his best mate cycling Ben have put together a squad of players who are not good enough for this level.

Well i actually clapped the boro third goal was a quality finish....

They were very decent but we allowed them to look class because the lack of urgency and press was just not there.

After the second goal, it had the feel of a preseason friendly.

I've got plenty of complaints. Yes they were good, but only because we let them be good, we let them dominate in every area., we did all the basics wrong, did not get close to the ball or the man, No point picking out individuals, but Saito, Varane, Vale, played like schoolboys, we were second to everything, incompetent, clueless. We are down to bare bones, but what was that about taking off two fullbacks to bring on juniors? Sorry but I was embarressed today.

Thanks for the downvotes. I stayed to the end unlike most and many weren't there, which could not blame them.

One of the main complaints is that the Boro players will wake up tomorrow, pain free and without bruises.

Have to be honest and say I could not motivate myself to go today. My seat was empty.

I watched it on the box and unfortunately the game went exactly the way I thought it would.

I know I should support the team when it is in a low place, but today I couldn't justify the time and money to travel down, when I could predict what the result would be.

We badly need some of those key players back, but that doesn't look like it is happening soon.

Honestly, where was the aggression today? We have some serious injuries, but this is about attitude... No yellow cards, no passion. I watched the Cov Boro match a couple of weeks ago and, yes Cov are decent and fighting for something, but Jeez they played their gameplay well. Boro want to attack the front of the area, want possession and want that to move through Hackney...Cov were aggressive from minute 1, packed the front of the area and nullified Hackney...its not f**kinh rocket science whatever team you are..yes, Boro are a good team, but we were so passive it was almost as if the manager had told the players that we cannot afford any more injuries or bans...maybe that was the case...
How was Saito still on the pitch after half time?
At 1-0 down we were still in the game, but no changes until after we conceded again..so much to think about, but dont know if this us a player/coach issue with the management, or a player issue with the coach.
That was absolutely awful amd unacceptable

We lost today because of individual mistakes plain and simple, bar the goal first half they did not create too much, The way we pressed their back 3 / 4 and cut off lines was effective and they broke in a few times behind the fallback or from their excellent movement and fast triangle passing in the centre mid space. We were coping. Varane asleep in the middle their guy scuffs his shot, its going wide bounces back off Norrington Davies they score via their own players arm.

On the ball again we did ok in fits and spells, but everything broke down time and time again most often via Varane who had an absolute shocker of a game.

Second half again we were doing ok with some decent threat but making the wrong decision in the final third. Played ourselves into trouble leading to a corner that Dunne fluffs with a terrible clearance header they get a bit of luck off the bar Kone probably has to do better. Third comes from another Varane error Walash makes a save then we dont defend properly Mbengue needs to be quicker out to the ball. Less said about the pen the better gotta feel sorry for the lad. I get why we had to taken Mbengue off (before he gets booked) and ND (can't play 3 games in a week.

I thought the team tried hard but were let down by some very poor performances from individuals.

Varane possibly the worst game of his QPR career cost us two of the goals
Saito really poor again. Blowing out of his arse after 25 minutes.
Mbengue fantastic going forward but played his part in two of their goals

I'm not mad, I'm just sad. Home and away Borough the best team we have played, the most inventive tactically, the best technically.

Its been a horrible run of games which we've had to play without key key players, whilst being totally undercooked fitness wise, and some players who we would hope would step up showing some of the worst form of their QPR careers.

If there are any positives to be had from today they were Vale and Morgan and Ronnie Edwards showing for 15 minutes that he is the best defensive midfielder we have, and I think needs to start their given we have both Cook (assuming its contract) and JCS available

Vale - MOM ?
Were we watching the same match - Jesus !

Can anybody explain why our manager, when 3-0 down put on 3 subs that were all defenders.

Agree with you on Boro. They must do a lot of ballwork in triangles and small groups, under pressure. That side of their game was very impressive. You do need to have the same players playing though to do that. I imagine they don't have too many injuries. So much harder to try and instigate a passing game when you've got Madsen-Hayden-Dembele- Chair doing it one week, Varane-Smyth-Vale-Morgan the next

etc etc etc

Vale has potential but was missing for a lot of the game today not helped by being played in a wide position, he did have some good moments.

Lots of names being mentioned for poor performances but not many mentions of Hayden, the senior pro out there today. Not scapegoating him but he has disappointed me in most games recently.

Didn't really notice Hayden do anything other than take a touch when he should have struck the ball first time. Vale came into the game once Mbengue started to run at them which freed up some space.
Varane was a mixed bag. Some really good physical stuff, winning the ball back and some really poor passing. Morgan is willing but he's a long way off what's needed in there right now. There's just no quality in centre mid.
Saito in hideous form but no other option. Kone surely is due an injury soon as he's being run into the ground.
Too many things going wrong for us at the moment. You wonder how long the owners will keep faith in the people they've employed to run the club. There has to be ways of doing it better.
Heard a rumour at the game that Obikwu is not playing because he failed a drugs test. All this silence from the club is bound to lead to all sorts of speculation. I wish they would just tell us what's going on with the injuries.

If that were true I’d have thought any professional sports club would have shown him the door.
