I had been told it was/is a hamstring not his calf…maybe whoever told me was wrong, or maybe the club don’t want to concede it was a hamstring. They still haven’t admitted Burrell’s was a hamstring and that was clear to anyone with functioning eyes.
So, Burrell will return mid-late April to the first team, after we were told it was a contact injury and he’d be back at the start of March. Very similar to what they said about Poku, told us he’d be back a month earlier than he was (before getting injured again).
Chair and Madsen are clearly behind Burrell from that update, so they might make, what, the last 2-3 games? Maybe. I’m not sure I’d risk them when we’ll have nothing to play for.
Based on Obikwu returning to team training first out of this crop, you’d think they could tell when he’ll be available. The fact they don’t is odd.

I read it as ...
Obikwui is just building fitness, so mid-April (originally we were told Mar when he got injured in Jan)
Burrell is looking like May for the last few games (originally we were told Mar when he got injured in Dec).
Nicolas Madsen and Ilias Chair are at the end of April (originally we were told Mar, then early April).
3 of those 4 have been out for half a season.
At this rate, JCS is catching up!!!
Now we are safe at our usual 16th or near as, they can admit the truth.

Apart from Obikwu I wouldn't be in a rush to be playing any of these in end of season dead rubbers. Big, clean, clear, fit for purpose pre-seasons are vital to everybody on that list after what happened this year. last thing you need is a relapse while we're getting pumped at Ipswich on the final day that ends up bleeding into the summer. |  | | |

its all about numbers , less they tell us the more they can say the stats say the injuries are below average so lycra ben is doing a fantastic job , i also though chair was out with a hamstring injury not a calf injury but once again that dosnt fit the stats
think williams description of the burrell injury was he had an impact before his hamstring finally went , so its not a hamstring inuury due to excessive running or poxt conditioning by the fitness guru , i was at that game and he had zero contact to cause an inuury but what do i know > | |

If Jamacia win tonight, the club should do it's best to get Burrell to the World Cup, for the sake of the player & also to hope that his valuation increases. I can't imagine that he would be happy if we held him back so that he missed selection.

We've asked and it's bone bruising, which is a weird thing because you can be out for three weeks or three months with it.
Why they didn't/couldn't/wouldn't say that is just part of this ongoing ridiculous attitude towards communicating with us. They would seemingly rather rumours fly around about a young player new to the club than just come out and say exactly what I've said there - it's bone bruising, it's a funny injury to put a time frame on.

If they’d been honest about Obikwu at the start, that they signed a fella to fill in for Burrell at a fairly substantial cost because we needed him immediately to do that role, not the summer when he’d have been cheaper, and that he either arrived injured or got injured immediately, and they couldn’t say how long he’d be out for but that it could be anything from 3 weeks to 3 months, they would have been slated at the time by all fans.
And rightly so.
But that’s the reason for not telling us. Would have made them look bad. Instead they hope people forget, facts become cloudy, narrative can be influenced, etc, and they get away with it.

Spot on. It’s also about taking us fans as complete and utter mugs. Pawns in the game that can be manipulated at will. Because those dumb asses (us fans) are so ffing stupid to notice.
We are the annoying piece of sh!t on the end of the shoe. Treated with contempt, disdain, and beneath respect.
That is, until the owners have to step in and force through absolute basics like sharing injury updates and timelines with fans. And publicly sign off the accounts with the truth about our injury record, rather than endless club propaganda that in fact, says the opposite.
And for what it’s worth, I think Lee Hoos’ recent public appearance is potentially revealing, even if behind the scenes information is tight-lipped.

The problem is that you cannot sell Madsen for maximum money unless he plays a few games at the end of the season.
If you can get a few games out of him, it will look like a small injury that he came back from and then continued his form.
Chair needs to play as he has hardly played at all.
Burrel can be saved for next season, agreed.
It would also be good to test Larkeche out, assuming he can get 2 games at the end of the season. | |
