Southampton haven't yet denied these allegations!
For anyone who doesn't know Boro caught someone with some very sophisticated cameras and recording equipment spying on one of their training sessions.
Apparently Boro are looking into the possibility that Saints have done this to other teams this season.
Nightmare timing for the EFL. I can't see any way for them to fudge this

They are appealing it today. The bbc said the the 3 games they admitted to spying on, they never actually won… surely this can’t form their grounds to appeal.
I’m surprised their manager hasn’t been suspended for a year too. |

The EFL can only take disciplinary action against clubs, it is up the Football Association to punish individuals.
The FA had been waiting for the EFL's process to complete. Once the appeal is heard on Wednesday, we can expect the governing body to move and ask questions of those in control at Southampton, from the hierarchy to the coaching staff. |  | | |

As someone said on socials, bit of a stretch to think they went and had a look at 21st placed Oxford in December, 4 wins in 21 games, then put the binoculars away until Ipswich in April.

Sucks for the fans (who by and large seem to blame the club but now have a blood feud with Boro for life) but their club really fked up with this one.

It’s a different panel today but I can’t see it. Must need something quite extreme to emerge to overrule the decision and they’ll be aware how ridiculous it will look if they do. SFC had the right to an appeal and have nothing to lose but assume it’s little more than a formality. | | | |
