I'm not convinced it'll ever happen. One of the plans I saw showed Heathrow spilling into the M25, I don't see any major work going through on one of the busiest sections like that |
last plan i saw was the m25 would go underneath the runway , so utter chaos on the m25 for god knows how long while they do it . and the cost would be mental even by HS2 standards |  |

Great news about the training ground.
I have said for a long time that being a Cat 1 academy would be massive for this club in terms of wanting to bring through our own and make this club an attractive proposition for those wanting to stay and develop.
I think the fact we are in a crowded part of the country with the likes of Palace, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal around, means being a Cat 1 is more important now. | | | |

Thought I'd take a look at the planning application, it's quite an interesting proposal.
We originally had a level of planning permission to construct the indoor pitch(es) but have revised the plans to create a smaller footprint for the indoor pitches and build a separate 'support building' which appears to have 2 sets of changing rooms (male/female) with only 2 showers and 8 lockers in each - maybe intended for match officials? I guess this may also help us hire out pitches to visiting teams due to play European matches vs Arsenal etc.
We have also outlined (with the intent for detailed planning permission further down the line) a 'skills hub' - taken from the planning statement: A new standalone "Skills Building" will be proposed at a later date to the east of the Indoor Pitch. This facility houses a dedicated "skills laboratory arena" measuring as a 320sqm artificial turf hexagon equipped with high-quality artificial turf, laser scanning technology, and high-speed cameras to support advanced player analysis and development.
This sounds much more cutting edge and thought through than simply adding more pitches, I wonder if the skills hub will be built dependent on achieving Cat 1 academy status.

I wonder how much revenue the club makes from hiring the facilities out for overseas teams visiting London for their European fixtures (or internationals against England). I know we've done it several times due to our proximity to Heathrow and it makes 100% sense for them and us. Perhaps this extension will also help us corner that market a bit as well, a USP we have that not many other clubs can match. |

To be fair they've started to address the issue: "Figure 7: Visualisation of medical buggy storage". All they need to do is link this area to the M4 with an on-ramp so we can take them directly to hospital and it will be one of the busiest junctions in London.
