Obviously most of the plaudits from last night were about Isak, but watching back the highlights from last night, albeit against a limited Bromley side I will say that this kid has a lot about him. Not often you find a winger that is comfortable taking on his defender either on the inside or outside, his assist for the first goal was a sublime pull back showing great awareness for Chair’s run, rather than the usual hitting across the goal too far forward for attackers. A great cross with his left foot which Lloyd should have scored from, a great chase down to create a chance for himself which he seemed happy to take with either foot, which the keeper saved well and then finished off with a great far post header, well directed into the corner of the goal. On top of that he seems to have great pace and is built already like the proverbial. I can liken him to Sinclair Armstrong but with the addition of having a good left foot, a good right foot, player awareness for passes or crosses and no brain farts. I think along with Isak we have a real prospect here and someone I can see coming on later in matches this season to terrorise tiring full backs. |  |

A fine display from the youngster, I thought. This game would give him a lot of confidence and lower his shoulders if he would me called upon in an cup/league match later in the season.

Spot on DW and beat me to this. Phil was terrific last night and also reminded me of Armstrong with his athleticism. Crucially though, he looks comfortable on either foot - cross for chair with his right, but looks to cut in on his left to shoot.
Also impressively, he took a free kick or two so shared responsibility with Chair, showing that they trust his delivery already. Couple this with his work rate and directness and you end up with a thoroughly impressive performance.
For all those who say last night wasn't massively useful; The performance of Phil Sanayaolu, Isak Almeyahu and Alfie Lloyd was really encouraging. So too just getting minutes into Chair at any level and him cruising through the game, dictating everything. | | | |

Sanyaolu looked very good last night but he was up against a Bromley youngster at LB. He didn't make the same impression when he played in Austria.

It’s so hard to assess these things.
Am really excited about some of the youngsters we are developing.
But most of us have been fans for years / decades and there is a long, long line of (near forgotten) youngsters who were meant to be the next big thing.
They typically go out on loan somewhere non league and are later released.
I really hope one of them has a breakthrough season but just want to be a bit cautious.
Sanyaolu looked excellent. And Isak to me does already look Championship standard.
But after years of supporting QPR, can we really have a prodigy on our hands??? | | | |

First time I've seen the lad, albeit briefly, but what a unit!
Obviously you can't judge him on last night alone, but some of you have been mentioning him in despatches for a while, and he looks like a bloke who you can see fullbacks not looking forward to facing him. Long way to go and a lot of hard work along the way, but he looks like a more thoroughbred version of Sincs in the making.

Similar build to Armstrong, but he seems more of a footballer than a 100m runner.
There's a few youngsters who have a chance of a career higher than National League. On average 91% of academy kids do t get a professional career, so don't go overboard. |  |

Agree with all of the above, he does look to have all the tools to be a decent player, speed, agility, power and no little skill... though I thought he favoured his left foot and didn't really look comfortable on his right
Also was impressed with both Sutton and Scarlett in their little cameos....

Sanyaolu's pace is Burrell like. Certainly a bit of a secret weapon on the wing. He's good as well with the ball at his feet and has a very good left foot. One to watch come through but his pace is going to cause a lot of problems, which is good. |  |

I just posted on the Bromley thread how impressed I was with this guy and then saw the separate thread. He looked very good and a bit of chunk too.
So count me in as an early fan, but I don't know much about him other than my mate google who said he has been with the club since he was 8.
I know we have plenty here who follow the DS, was that a normal performance or flash in the pan? Because he certainly looks like one for the future, although I know we have said that before about youngsters at the club who have failed to go on an achieve. |  | | |

I guess we will see him rotate around Poku - not a bad replacement if we rotate him around 45-60mins for some fresh legs and can feed him the ball.
The forward passing has improved a lot in pre-season so good hope to see the lad get a lot of balls to run onto. And there’s a goal in him too. |  |

Wasn’t at the game yesterday but watched the stream..
I was however at the cup final vs Dulwich Hamlets last season.
Got a good look at Phil particularly in one half. Very nimble, almost balletic, for a big lad and the pitch was poor quality. I’ve been impressed both the times that I have seen him play.
As has been pointed out, both times were against poor opposition.
Given our surfeit of inverted wide players on the books, I wouldn’t be surprised or averse to see him go out on loan. Even now I think he is at least League 2 standard. |  | | |

The thing you can’t really tell from watching them once or twice is can they improve. So we had Jack Clarke at QPR and he wasn’t anything special for us even though he cost £10 million as an 18 year old. But he obviously continued to improve and is now playing back in the Prem and is still only 25 years old.
This guy looks like a prospect. But will he continue to work at his game, to want to learn, to be able to step up against harder opposition, when there’s less space and more pressure? Will he be able to do it consistently or just occasionally?
That’s why no club can 100% get it right and with young prospects. You can look at a player’s character and narrow the chances of making mistakes but there’s a reason for Clive’s 100 matches in the Championship before they are really good enough but also have they improved enough. |  | | |

It's probably more like 50 starts, I'm sure i've heard Gallen and Bircham say it more than once on various podcasts.
For the average person I'd equate it to passing your driving test.
