SOme would take it as a good thing but he may well have thought they were taking the piss.

Well that might be the case if they only did it for him but as I understand it it’s a recognition that any player gets from graduating to the first team officially from the Academy after so many appearances. I think it’s as much to inspire the young academy boys as to recognise the new graduates as they also have photos up of all the recent graduates in the training ground. TBH if that’s the only thing he’s got to moan about then it’s a bit thin. Would be nice if he could be injury free for more than a few weeks at a time too. And as for not going out on loan I just don’t get it. If Eze and Chair can do it why can’t Kolli?

No, and who knows? Personally, I think he's beyond needing to be loaned out. After all he's had 57 first team appearances, albeit many as a sub, with 11 goals and 4 assists.

Yes, he is a proven finisher, but there have been a number of opportunities where he started and his all round play was not robust enough for a number 9 in the Championship. I don't think anyone would argue that he should currently start over Kone/Burrell/Chair in the 9 and 10 spots? So is it better for him to continue being a bench player or move out on loan to develop as a starter? [Post edited 9 Aug 10:21]

Some of the rumours are that he's refusing to go out on loan, but again, who knows? I'd like him to stay and be cover for our strikers and I rate him above Lloyd and very probably Obikwu. He gives us something different and, as we've all seen, very valuable. That said, I increasingly expect him to move on.

I'm genuinely in two minds about what is best for Kolli. On the one hand he's about the age that Eze and Chair were when they went out on loan and it didn't do them any harm. On the other hand neither Chair nor Eze had played much in the first team for us before going out on loan. Just looking at league records: Kolli already has just over 2,000 league minutes with 9 goals and 3 assists. That averages out as a goal contribution once every 170 minutes or so. I know you can prove anything with statistics but that's a better ratio for goal contributions than either Chair or Eze has managed in their entire career: Chair 90 league goal contributions @ one every 228 minutes Eze 102 league goal contributions @ one every 213 minutes So on paper Kolli should probably be in the team. But numbers can be deceptive and we know that Kolli goes missing against better teams, so he still has a lot to learn. On balance I think a good L1 loan where he is expected to play every week and maybe lead the attack is what he needs most. If he is refusing to go then he might be shooting himself in the foot!

Great post. As far as I understand and I could be wrong of course , the move to Wycombe was a permanent deal and not a loan . That puts a slightly different perspective (if true) on both his stance and the clubs. The club saw a fee and although not likely to be a huge amount , would see pure profit and sell on clauses etc . From Rayan’s point of view he might of actually preferred a loan rather than potentially consigning himself to league one football. Might doing the heavy lifting of course. Thats pure conjecture on my part but if even slightly true it’s a slightly narrow minded view on his part . By all accounts , the lad backs himself so he should back himself to be a success in League 1 and make people sit up and take notice . As others have said it’s all a bit tiresome now and there is no doubt that those in charge have taken a dislike to him for whatever reason long before this summer. But if Rayan isn’t careful then his career will have passed him by in a blink of an eye. Just go and play , whether it’s for us , who he loves dearly or for someone else . | | | | Login to get fewer ads

That’s what annoys me if it’s true that he won’t go out on loan. He’s obviously a talented footballer and a great finisher on his day but his all round game isn’t good enough. And these days scoring alone without doing the defensive work or ball winning isn’t enough. The other thing that leads me to believe it’s him that’s the issue is that Stephan alluded to him ‘knowing what he has to do in training to make the starting lineup’ Stephan isn’t someone who calls individuals out in public but if he’s saying that about you then there must be something to it. Plus Martí also didn’t start him regularly despite our thin cover up front. I’d love nothing more than an academy graduate making it in the first team but they have to be able to offer enough and humble enough to want to learn and develop even if that means going on loan to get regular starts.
| Rayan Kolli scores for development squad on 13:10 - Aug 9 with 2291 views | derbyhoop | It strikes me, and I don't think I'm alone, that the best thing for Kolli's career would be a L1 loan, where he's going to get 60-70 minutes every week. If he starts getting loads of goals, he'll be back and in the first team. | |

| Rayan Kolli scores for development squad on 13:36 - Aug 9 with 2221 views | DannytheR | As it stands, surely the best thing for the club would be Kolli staying? Take him out of the equation and we've currently got 2 available strikers, one of who spent a chunk of last season out injured, with a manager who likes 4-4-2 and literally nobody else to put on the bench. The problem is also that a lot of the stuff about Kolli refusing to go out on loan, and his supposedly bad attitude in general, comes from people (or more accurately, online accounts) that you wouldn't necessarily trust if they told you the time. As we've seen with Obikwu, it doesn't take much for some pretty embarrassing ideas about players to start circulating. And anyway, there are loans and loans. Chair, for instance, went to exactly the right kind of club at exactly the right time. But a lot are organised for the benefit of the clubs, with little or no thought for the player themselves. Outside QPR, look at Harvey Elliott last season - Liverpool send him out on loan, and he literally loses a year of what is a very short career. I don't know. This level of constant tittle-tattle about a kid from west London who's been with the club since he was at primary school just feels a bit grim to me... [Post edited 9 Aug 13:38]

I’m not saying the club are wrong to do this just it might have been taken wrong way by someone who has been a first team player for 3 seasons He clearly sees himself as a first team player, each season he improves his goals scored and assists, if he’d signed on loan from a prem club we’d be falling over ourselves to keep him, really sad that’s not the case

The difference we have between us is not whether he’s talented and it’s not whether he has potential, I think most people including me believe that he is and he does. But we’ve seen players who are now regulars for Premiership clubs that weren’t at the time they played for us that effective. I’d put Tim Iroebugnan and Jack Clarke in that category - both of whom came to us on loan ironically. He can see himself as what he likes but it doesn’t make it true. He is unlikely to be a regular starter for us because he doesn’t do what’s necessary in training and his all round game isn’t enough. I dont think he’s far away from being good enough. But he needs week in week out football and I think that’s why we want to send him out on loan. It’s catch 22 because if he refuses to go then he won’t develop and if he doesn’t develop we won’t start him. Even a half season loan is likely to be enough. But it may come down to him leaving to get what he wants which I agree with you would be a massive shame but we seem to be stuck.

He can see himself all he wants, but the fact is: 'we' and 'everyone' else see him sat in the stands watching QPR more than we do playing for QPR! Football is a small world. If other clubs think he's lazy, injury prone, puffing after an hour, unwilling to go on loan to improve himself (which many top players do) because he thinks he's good enough, and with his dad intervening, they'll undoubtedly think there's a bloke who exudes a problem in the making. Frankly, I think we're fast approaching the point of simply moving on without him; if we're not already there! Time to shut up, man up, or we'll just have to give up on him! The situation has been tedious for too long. Focus on Isak, Big Phil, Sutts, and Scarlett and just let William Large Testicles go be someone else's problem.

Correct, the family have had two serious loan offers on the table - one to Saudi Arabia which they understandably refused under huge pressure from the club and destroyed whatever relationship might have been salvageable, and then a Ligue 1 club last summer which they accepted but fell through late in the process. Ultimately, he is a very popular kid amongst the rest of the squad and he just wants to stay and play for QPR. Without rehashing old ground, obviously as you know well Mart it’s gone beyond that point now and he’ll likely end up a deadline day transfer to Brentford B..

100%, I’m sure there is some stubbornness on the Kolli’s side now after all that’s gone on, and if I were in their position I’d probably desperately want to stay too as very few are lucky enough to play for their club but it’s gone on too long now and in everyone’s interests to part ways.

| Rayan Kolli scores for development squad on 20:50 - Aug 9 with 1369 views | ViewFrom165 | If we are going to surmise that people within the hierarchy at the Club want Kolli out for mainly non footballing reasons, I have an issue with whoever that is having such a fragile ego that they aren't willing to do the right thing for the benefit of the Club on many levels. 1. Repeating myself but Kolli is the best player the Club has produced all the way through it's youth ranks that has played at Championship level for us since Richard Langley in 1998 (honourable mention to Ray Jones as well). He's the only recent example we can give of that pathway to all the aspiring young players and their parents when we're trying to sell the Youth Development programme and stop them going to other rival academies. He is our only genuine poster boy and therefore he's great for business on that front. 2. Yes his consistency can be questioned, but the same can be said for all of our current crop of Striker options. Last season I watched Kone, Burrell and Bennie be completely ineffective multiple times over their full 90 minute and substitute appearances, failing to do the absolute basics required of a striker, drift in and out of games and have long spells without a goal contribution, yet they are given more grace than Kolli for the same or much less return when averaged out. Everyone should be held to the same account. 3. He is clearly very good at Football. His Goals per minutes ratio is currently up there with some of the best in the clubs history, he has ball striking/finishing qualities that nobody else at the Club possesses. Can score goals out of nothing, from range or in the 6 yard box, he can win flick ons and link play just as well as anyone else. Lloyd respectfully couldn't lace his Boots and Obikwu is still untested at this level so everything should be getting done to get him in contention to be one of our main Striker options. 4. Being completely Homegrown he's the only viable option for a pure profit sale, we aren't going to get anywhere near his potential value by not playing him, or by tarnishing his reputation outwardly to potential buyers either. There's been too much outside noise from his Family that I'm sure has probably bothered Kolli just as much as us, his Dad isn't his agent though so I doubt his reps have caused Nourry or whoever any more issues than other agents wanting the best deals for their clients. The worst case scenario is letting him leave without giving him every opportunity to fulfil his undoubted potential, that he so clearly wants to do at the Club he loves. As you can probably tell I feel quite passionately about Kolli and this situation but ultimately want all sides to win here and feel the Club could potentially make a huge mistake if they mishandle this. It’s fairly obvious who have the fragile egos… I wish they could park those egos and give the lad game time. It’s in the best interests of the club. All this nonsense around him is far more club driven than player driven. | | | |

Why hasn't a decent team come in with a bid to take him on loan? Sorry, Saudi Arabia and France hardly sound credible alternatives for a generational talent?

I can't help wondering if Kolli would be faring better if Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey were still here. Their support and guidance is something else that Chair and Eze benefited from. [Post edited 9 Aug 22:23]

He’s had long runs in the side last season they came to very little , he’s been around the first for what two and a bit seasons and still not cemented a place in the squad ,we hear from certain people he loves the club , we all do and most of us would kill to be in the position his in or was in , do anything we was told to become a players talked about for years to come. If that’s a loan to somebody take it , then become the player you think you already are . Don’t stamp my feet and say no I deserve a spot in the team every single week when apart from being a great finisher hes overall game is poor and that’s purely down to lack of pitch time ,the first team isn’t a nursery, learn as u go environment . No matter all the back ground noise surrounding him hes the one who’s in control of his career , extra hours on the training. Pitch more fitness work what ever it takes to get there. But all we keep hearing is he loves the club he’s been here since a kid. Brilliant hes living all our dreams it’s his choice if he fecks it fully up and by the sounds of it hes at last chance saloon right now . As for the comment hes the best player we have produced raheem Stirling did rather well for him self , and was nearly a first team player at 15 i seem to remember he had a fairly decent career after as well [Post edited 9 Aug 22:33]
