Lincoln are fascinating. Great case study on how to overachieve. Alas, much like when Yeovil got up to these heights, I’m not sure they’ll be able to survive.
I think Cardiff will stay up. Think they could be the surprise package pushing towards mid table.
Bolton, Blackburn, Preston…that would be good.
Watford always seem to find a way to get enough points on the board. They’ll sign or borrow someone handy.
Charlton, perhaps. Could see that.

Looking at various tipsters post their 2026-27 predictions I've seen us tipped from 4th to 24th.
Its a strange old league.
My gut says we finish 11th this season. |  |

I see little between us.
"despite [enter GK's name] frequent wobbles in goal"
"When the onus falls on [QPR] to be expressive and attack they tend to come a cropper"
"Having looked long since safe they played their way back into trouble by winning only one of the last nine and losing four in a row at home"
"their other big issue – an ongoing chronic injury list"
"A team that doesn’t want the ball, doesn’t want to attack, cannot press"
That bottom six is the list I said a few days ago (bar PNE) who I think we'll be trading blows with.
I also said it wouldn't surprise to see a few of them have unexpectedly better seasons and the previews of Lincoln (in particular) and Cardiv / Bolton also to a certain extent.
As a natural born pessimist I will confess to being a bit more glass half full after reading that most excellent piece.

Totally agree.
I still maintian we're three players away from breaking that 15th/16th Open Cup Title Winners cycle (three players... it's ALWAYS three players) but if we're going to do it then it has to be now.
I'm just a mug punter but I'd hope they're running all the scenarios.
The ideal one is we start like a steam train and players such as Kone, Buzz and Madsen are standout so we get bids we cannot resist in January... have replacements lined up and we go again.
The one we don't want is "oops! Maybe we do need a bit of the old gnarly grit a lah Steve Cook" and we can get some dogs in.
