Injury worries continue on 15:38 - Dec 6 with 3482 views | Ned_Kennedys | If he has got a squad of only 22 and a bunch of them are going to be out for at least 2 weeks then surely he needs to look at promoting some of the Under 23s to make up the numbers at the very least? Haven’t been down to see the U23s this season so out of touch as to who plays LWB/LB for them (and no info on QPR website) but surely they are worth a shot, or a least a place on the bench?
Injury worries continue on 15:46 - Dec 6 with 3446 views | BlackAndGoldRanger | Do we think that Warbs will change the formation now? After it clearly didn't work yesterday with the fill in wingbacks. Much prefer Ozzy in a 4. Got a week to prepare for Shef U so time to work on a new formation. Or any U23s who we could call upon? Aaron Drewe?

True - but even so we created plenty of chances let alone the penalty, on another day we put away two or three of those.

Injury worries continue on 15:51 - Dec 6 with 3432 views | EastR | This is a concern, but given the intensity of the league bound to happen on occasion, just a shame for us they all come at once. I hope in the absence of the first and second choice players for the wing back roles that they consider tweaking the formation rather than continuing to shoe horn players into those positions. Going to a back four yesterday with Field in front as the anchor would have been a better option im(no expert)ho

Yes, and Chair was running lame for most of the game yesterday, came out after Half Time early to try to run-off injury to his right foot but you could see he was impeded by it and no where near his usual self, maybe that Thomas change should have been made earlier, hindsight, just hope Chair has'nt made that injury worse by playing through it for the team. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yes, hope Chair is ok again for the next few games, but gets a recurrence just before the Afcons.

Do we not think this was sort of coming though? Asking one 34 year old and and another who turns 34 this month to play arguably the most demanding position on a football pitch week in week out is going to take its toll. I love them both, such a shame they are not 5 years younger!

I think it's a knock on effect. We've been missing Lee and Sam Field since the beginning of the season, which means it's been harder to rest Sam McCallum or Stefan. Andre took time to get up to full fitness and Charlie has been carrying a knock/struggling with personal issues, which meant Dykes, who doesn't get a break in the international period, has had to play too much. Chair has also not had a break due to international matches, and we couldn't swap him with, say, Stefan, because he was covering for Luke Amos and Field. Dickie and Barbet both looked weary and aren't taking as much pressure off everyone else as usual by making runs into midfield like they were at the beginning of the season. De Wijs being injured isn't helping with this. We had a cup run which added to fixture pressures, although was great fun. Odubajo has had to play quite a lot until he got injured and then we've had to overplay Uncs cos Kakay is fine as a back up but not when you're playing top six matches as he doesn't put enough pressure on their defence when we're going forward. Also, we've been punching above our weight a bit in the league, as well as the mini cup run, so we haven't really been able to coast at all as we might do a bit if we were mid table. I also think being on Sky has affected us a bit as we've been posted a bit as one of the teams to beat. I wonder if it's meant other teams have played that bit better against us, eg Stoke, Blackpool and Peterborough. Apart from Blackburn, we haven't really played any teams that were really below par.

I'll say again Wallace only played 2 games before injured again. Maybe, we don't know, he came back too early, but he wasn't flogged to death or asked to play every minute of every game after the injury. Again we have no idea, but the notion that EVERY injury, at EVERY club is down to too many games, as MW implied in his last interview, is surely nonsense.

He's never said every injury is down to playing too many games, he's just said the current schedule of playing every few days makes it inevitable that you will get injuries which is happening at all clubs at the moment.

Not really: both Ball and Field could play there. Also a few promising CBS in the U23s if Warburton was feeling adventurous.

Afraid you're falling into the MW trap of generalising the whole season based on the odd 'busy' period. Since 6th Nov, up to 27th Dec these are the days between games 13, 5, 5, 6, 8, 5, 9 - how is that 'every few days' or even excessive and unreasonable? As to the first point, of course he didn't say every injury but did discuss ALL our injuries and then say that the schedule id placing too many demands on players and we see that at all clubs - he may as well have said every injury, the way he phrased it.

I am a huge fan of the way he has us playing with the formation, but the Wing Backs are VITAL to this formation and, if we haven't got the personnel, then I'd absolutely advocate the change after seeing what the alternatives are. My only concern is that Barbet is absolutely not a Left Back, but then neither was Clint Hill really... I think a 4-1-4-1 would serve us well; protection of the back four; width and one up top works. But he won't change; he rarely does...

I can see where you are coming from but before November 6th the schedule was ridiculous and then when you get to December 27th you are playing 3 games in 6 days. The schedule across the whole season is mad when you can have periods of the season with 8 day gaps between games and others where you get 2 days. It could be done a lot better than this and unless managers and clubs make a noise about this it will never change.
