Lots of stuff in the papers recently about delivery companies. A little league table published with Anazon top and Hermes rock bottom. This ties in with my experience.
Also, tales of people hanging around the streets looking for parcels left outside doors and making off with them.
Anyone got any stories ?

Our very lovely delivery lady (Hermes I believe) had her full van stolen whilst she was on a doorstep making a delivery.
Dumped empty literally around the corner, obviously been followed for a while!

Hermes are absolutely bloody shocking. Companies only use them because they're cheap. Last year I was due to have two pairs of trainers delivered from Size and nobody was at home during the daytime on this particular day but normally there would have been.

I believe their policy if an item cannot be delivered personally is that they text you and take it back to the local depot to be redelivered at a convenient time which you arrange on their website.

Did they take my trainers back to the depot? Did they f*ck. £160 worth of trainers just dumped on my doorstep in full view for anyone to take away. When I got the text from them to say they'd 'successfully' delivered them (with accompanying picture showing them left on the doorstep) I immediately left work to travel home. Twenty five minutes later I was back and very luckily they were still there.

When I order something online and find out it's due to be delivered by Hermes the heart sinks. I had another pair of trainers delivered the other day by Hermes and it looked like it must have been used as football beforehand because when I opened up the packaging the box was absolutely wrecked. F*cking useless delivery company.

Amazing what you can achieve when you force your drivers to piss in bottles to hit unrealistic deadlines under threat of financial penalty.

Hermes are thieving bastards whether their employees piss in bottles or not.

have 5 flats in my building, hermes 'delivered' a new shirt for me, well they got to the door and posted a ticket through it.....no name, reference number, or anything.

So no one knew who it was for (we are always getting deliveries here) so no one bothered about a blank ticket.

Yup it was my shirt ( i think), as i say that, the manufacturer was supposed to text me it was being shipped, a shipping number etc but didnt so equally shyte.

So i never got my shirt, i cannot get another one, and the manufacturer is now just playing games..... will be contacting mastercard this week for my money back!

Customer service, my ass!

Widen your search area, last thing of mine Hermes delivered was to a random house two roads away. Luckily, the homeowner found the package on his doorstep when he got back from work and brought it round to me.

I see it from a slightly different angle.

About 3 days a month I deliver flowers in the Windsor area for a local company.
I use their van and it’s just a few hours in the day.
Some customers have the weirdest requests about where to leave them, knocking on doors, don’t want to give mobile numbers out and it can be a right pain in the backside and I maybe do 10 a day that’s all.
So I can slightly sympathise with the drivers that do it as a full time job that fly about all over the place and have to pee in bottles.
Lockdown was marvellous…. Everyone was in and it was so easy.

Been living out of the country for a good while now, never heard of Hermes until a week ago when I ordered a Christmas present for a friend from John Lewis.

Hermes sent me an email about 20 minutes ago saying it was delivered, based on this thread it seems like I should be double checking that!

Hermes
Delivered a five foot parcel when we were out, unsuccessfully "hiding" it behind a bin; we had not instructed them to do that if we were out.

The parcel was still there when we got back. The one small fly in the ointment was that it wasn't for us, it was for someone who lived at the same house number and street as us, only in a neighbouring town

Then the - cough - fun really began. Hermes were impossible to contact by phone so I had to resort to Twitter. The problem with that was that although they were responsive and seemingly eager to help, our predicament was not easy to explain or grasp when discussed in very short bursts of text and the person manning Twitter for them kept changing with the result that it took hours to make them understand what needed to be done.

Eventually, they put me in touch with their delivery man but he was elusive and at one point, asked me to take the parcel to the person who had ordered it myself. While all this was going on, I was growing increasingly concerned that it would appear as if I was craftily keeping the package for myself.

To be fair to the delivery guy, he did come round within a couple days and then we were finally rid of the wretched parcel

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

I think its who your delivery person is from Hermes -our guy is brilliant - never leaves anything on the doorstep because he has taken the time to get to know people and when they arent in he knows someone in the neighborhood who will take it in for him and for us.

Amazon direct delivery are the worse round our way - they run to the door throw the parcel on the floor take a picture and run. Also - ever seen one of their Mercedes Delivery Van without a dent in it? Seems that they only employ drivers that have qualified for advanced kno6head driving exam!

Hermes "delivered" some trainers to me, and left me a card informing me they'd left them at number 59. Turned up to see a huge gap between 57 and 61and started laughing. They left them at an address that doesn't exist

Hermes almost killed me during lock down.

Give you a time slot then constantly miss it.

Say they tried to deliver and you werent in but you and they know you were and they just didnt get round to you.

Had one package where the guy said it was delivered but it wasnt. Got a call a few days after i complained asking if i lived at x address. I poibted out i lived at the address of the package which was about 3 miles away. Turned out the guy just pressed delivered at the end of the shoft when he new he couldnt make it and it tags it on a map. Bellend.

Then had another one whom said they delivered and didnt, i called them out on twitter and their 'customer service' and he delivered it to next door late that evening without telling us.

If any shop uses hermes i no longer use them and let them know that is the reason. Definitely helps your blood pressure when not using them.

Sexy Asian dwarves wanted.

Hermes are consistently the worst, in my experience. But it can only be because their employment conditions are the worst. Nobody goes to work in the morning intentionally wanting to do a bad job.

Of the many things we have learned (or probably not, it seems) over the last couple of years is that is the 'plebs' who keep the country going, not those in their ivory towers.

Without the ground force doing what they need to do, the country stops, people panic (food, petrol, bog roll, etc), mayhem ensues.

Make those jobs better, there needs to be a narrowing of the gap.

I'm surprised to read these comments about Hermes as our delivery lady for them is superb. She will return multiple times to complete the delivery if you are out & have not arranged a "safe" place to leave. Whether this is against Hermes policy I wouldn't know & care not!

I'm sure that it doen't matter who the company is, the final part of the service is down to the reliability of the individual.

Guess we've all suffered one way or the other at some time, but the film 'Sorry we missed you' puts the other side of the issue - from the drivers' perspective anyway.

Part of my job at the moment is to take in all deliveries at my workplace. As a result, I've got to know most of the drivers from all the main companies. They're all massively overworked at the moment, two today both had 160 deliveries to make. A lot of them use our place as a toilet stop as there's not many opportunities on their route. All decent, hard working people trying to earn a crust.
However, if I have one more parcel described as being left on my porch, when it is clearly just a doorstep, I might change my mind

Everything you need to know about Hermes is in the responses to those reviews, a standard cut and past with only the region changed on each one.
