Travelman traveling on 22:29 - Jan 31 with 3370 views | bosh67 | What is the point of keeping him and simply loaning him forever? He's never going to make it. Is it not just easier to pay up his contract and eventually use the money we aren't paying him to improve the quality of the pies or something. Utterly pointless.

Who’s going to buy him? He’s been hawked all over the world and no-one wants to take him full time. I mean, the only place willing to even have a loan of him is a made up team in the Belgian 2nd division! What a life this guy’s had!

Even now it’s a loan with no obligation to buy. Blokes fkn pony….so HTF did he get a 4 year contract off us when we are brassic?

Travelman traveling on 23:26 - Jan 31 with 3072 views | aston_hoop | The silly thing is, he'll earn less in these 4 years than Bosingwa did in 6 months. I dread to think of the amount we spent on people like Sandro. Can't hate the bloke, he's not very good but likely not very expensive and not much of our problem going forward. Its a bigger waste if we're paying any of the loan players wages in the last few years

I hope this much-hyped Heston initiative actually produces decent players, as opposed to merely being a bloody expensive conveyor belt producing more of the same!

Travelman traveling on 23:56 - Jan 31 with 2954 views | BazzaInTheLoft | Another one I don’t get the hate for. A Finnish international and a player for MLS Champions that we probably pay relative fck all in wages and cost us nothing in transfer fees. Never took the piss, just a limited player. I suspect that’s more on the club than him. Good luck to him. No grudges here.

Never took the piss? You must’ve missed the games I was at were he basically hid and showed zero willingness to “put it in” The fact he’s signed for a club that sounds like a pedigree dogs kennel club name speaks volumes

Travelman traveling on 08:04 - Feb 1 with 2622 views | Dixie_CT | A loan rather than contract termination must be due to the fact Travelman has one more year left on his contract, whereas Thomas was out of contract in six months and had a club willing and able to sign him. It’s preferential to get at least some of his wages paid instead of forking out a mutual termination fee for 18 months of his contract but there is little chance he ever makes a QPR first team squad again and who knows what magic was in that four year contact in bonuses for making at least the bench. Not good enough and not his fault he was given such a long contact. Huge error that we can such big contracts to both him and Kakay, as it has hamstrung the squad in the full-back areas. Maybe Niko finds his home, rips it up, they get promoted, and sign him permanently. Then again, maybe I’ll become, close to Keith Stroud and we’ll spend next Christmas together watching Morecambe and Wise while wearing matching LooTown onesies.

Do you want the dates of my attendance? I’ve never said “I don’t go anymore” I go less (which isn’t hard as I was an Aussie Soap fan until couple of years back) and this season I think it’s 5 games, all at home. Fact remains Travelman had a decent game for Finland, we’d lost BOS and Manning for belly button fluff and the clown’s panicked and offered out 4 year contracts to a pair of young full backs who were internationals for small nations. Kakay I have time for, kid don’t hide, cares and can be aggressive; whereas on the other flank you have the complete opposite

No, don’t overeact. You can’t have seen him not run around this season unless you are counting the two minutes at the end of the 3-2 win at Boro six months ago. I don’t think that makes him a pisstaker! Can’t you just let these lads go in peace if their time here is unsuccessful? He’s a limited player who it hasn’t worked out for. That doesn’t make him Jose Bosingwa. [Post edited 1 Feb 2023 10:45]

I suspect they are hoping he has a showcase season that will catch a teams eye and therefore a fee becomes involved. Otherwise he’s out the door at the end of his contract I reckon.

I don’t think it’s “fck all” in wages. Probably about 8k a week? That would mean about 500k a year with employers NI. Over 4 years, that’s a lot of money for a club like ours. Probably also explain why we can’t just “pay him off” with 18 months to go.

Baz, there is no chance of a fee being involved and there never has been. Whoever gave him a four year contract should have been shown the door three and a half years ago. The Board could have my opinion about who we should keep for nothing and save themselves a fortune. For the life of me, I cannot understand what went on there.
Travelman traveling on 11:12 - Feb 1 with 2237 views | 89_50 | Pointed out on Twitter that the destination of his move(s) doesn't quite add up. A little dig, and it turns out he's friends/acquaintances with the chap who co-owns this Belgian club - the same guy that subsequently also majority owns Botafogo (last year's loan), and has stakes on Lyon and Crystal Palace. The guy also founded the youth team in Florida where Travelman started out. Must be a last-minute call to his pal every time he's forced to move. Fully expect him to end up at Lyon next season.

Is calling for someone’s sacking over a contract we have no details about a bit over the top Steve?

Talking to a mate the 4 year contract thing might be a way around FFP/P&S. Maybe something to do with spreading the costs over a longer period. Don’t know how that works but I struggle to accept that we can play hardball with much better players and not renew contracts and let them walk away after offering lower wages and Travelman having a super agent that negotiated a good deal and got him 4 years. His basic must be awful otherwise there is no sense to it.
