Well the article says that Kakay is unlikely to be fit, but then I suppose we are all starting to learn how closely Ainsworth guards this sort of information so no idea if it is right or not.

Ah yes forgot he had a knock - suppose Drewe could start if Laird can fill in on the left?

The one that played under Critchley was called back into first team action way too early by Beale as he began to realise that his acquisitions supposedly playing the same role, weren't up to the mark. Willock should never have played any part against Norwich, nor started against West Brom, Huddersfield, Coventry. His first proper start should have been after the World Cup. In the end, he barely missed a month of football, which for an injury of the type he sustained is too short. Not just the injury itself but in rebuilding the player's confidence to run as freely as was the case prior.

Was also brought back against Boro in August before he was supposed to play, and left on for longer than the medical team advised.

This, or you could put Field there. Desperate I know, but desperate times. The crazy option is Willock at LWB in back 5. Hopefully, that won't happen.

At Blackpool, Drewe was switched to left back & Kakay moved to the right. This was an improvement (how could it not have been!) on the opening ten minutes. I've no idea how Laird would be on the left (if available) but he has far more experience than any other player at full back/wing back.

It shouldn't be a big ask to expect a right-sided defender to play on the left, deliver some crosses on the left foot and look less awkward when defending. Although he had his failings, credit goes to Moses Odubajo for being adept with both feet. His excellent left-footed cross for our equaliser against Hull last season immediately springs to mind. Maybe its finally time to start Armstrong ,its way less pressure on the road and he might get his first goal and be off and running. If we get ahead Wigan will crumble then bring on Dykes to seal the deal

Armstrong in a two playing off Martin for last half hour is an option, Armstrong on his own in a one is obviously a non-starter, as seen by his really poor control in a recent game where any other player would have been slaughtered for an easy 1st touch that left the ball 10 yards away from him, Good option off the bench to maybe replace Willock on left for last 30, or alongside Martin tho.

Why would Wigan crumble? More to the point will QPR go ahead? In our dreams I suppose but it does help to be optimistic.

Laird has got to play RB otherwise there's no point in having one of your better players back in the team

With some of the senior players back, leave Laird on the right and try Steven Bala on the left with an option to take him off if it isn't working out early. He won't have Uncle's experience but has the skills.

They have been paid and we'll do well to show them some respect on the pitch bearing In mind we're nothing special.

I don't think lack of respect is the issue, more lack of ability/mental fortitude! As I've said before we have lost plenty of games with members of the returning "cavalry" playing, but can hardly be much worse so here's hoping for a much needed win!

Correct, and - what's worse - he wasn't phased in gradually on either return to the team. But, of course, Beale bragged openly that he ignored the medical team in order to get his first win for Rangers. The warning signs were there from that day on.
