Pulis gone on 10:19 - May 17 with 3489 views | runningman75 | Another con merchant of a manager. Wonder where he will end up next. Spoke to a Middlesborough fan who hated him. Just relieved he is going nowhere near Loftus Road.
Pulis gone on 10:40 - May 17 with 3410 views | Juzzie | Along with Redknapp, Allardyce & Hughes, hopefully another shyster who'll never get another manager's job again. I'll have no sympathy with any club who employ any of these.

Saw Hughes was all over Sky sports the other night commenting on the situation at Brighton. He was almost dribbling at the thought.
Pulis gone on 10:48 - May 17 with 3381 views | Konk | Hopefully someone else will give him a go. It would be a real shame if he was lost to the English game. It's probably just me, but whenever I see him in his baseball cap, glasses and tracksuit, I always imagine him on a mobility scooter, smoking a fag outside a pub in the drizzle.

This is the personal reference I now provide on behalf of Mark to all prospective employers: As a player, Mark served Man Utd, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Southampton with distinction. He was well known for his muscular thighs, Larry the lamb hairdo and acrobatic volleys. I once saw him take a overhead scissor-kick free-kick whilst he was lying on his side on the floor inside his own half, facing his own goal. As a manager, Mark is to be avoided.

I don't think it's very fair to put him in with those lot. Whilst he certainly seems a little crooked and plays a hateful brand of football, he actually has some meaningful achievements, often in trying circumstances. While he does like to spend money, his signings do also seem to have long term benefits unlike that lot. Most of the defence at Palace was signed by him 4 years ago for example.
Pulis gone on 12:05 - May 17 with 3096 views | Tonto | I'm puzzled by the "con merchant manager" moniker. I would have said he was quite successful at keeping smaller clubs like Stoke and West Brom in the premiership against the odds. How does that make him a con? now I accept his style of play was agricultural and boring, but it was amazingly effective. how does that make him a con? compare that to real con merchants like 'Arry and Hughes who put themselves forward as successful, when in fact they are not, but splurge large amounts of money leaving clubs in the lurch.

This. From a chairman's point of view: a safe pair of hands, should guarantee safety / reasonable league position. From a fan's point of view: no entertainment value. In a world where finances dominate everything he is bound to be offered another job somewhere - if he wants one.

Well, I think from the Chairman’s point of view, they’re a bit worried about his approach to financial transactions. Lots of rumours about, shall we say, leakage, at his previous clubs.

Nice Konk, but you'll need to up-issue that, there was a grammatical error, to whit: "As a manager, Mark is to be *meticulously* avoided". Now we're golden

I only lumped him in with the others in the sense I don't think he should get another Managerial job. His brand of football is awful and only gets jobs because people who employ him adopt the 'it's a results business' mantra and think finishing 17th in the PL seems to be deemed a success.

The rules for parachute payments changed the season after we went down. We were the last along with Burnley (although they went straight back up) and Hull to get them on a sliding four year scale. It's now two years if a club goes up and straight down as Boro did and a third year of payments is added if a club has been in the PL for more than a season before getting relegated such as Villa. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premier_League_parachute_and_solidarity_payments#P

Agree that they've had some desperately dull teams and managers of late, but as for the town we get a friendlier welcome at Dr Brown's in Boro than we do just about anywhere else in the country. Good mix of both fans, loads of Boro fans actually asking questions about QPR, how we're doing, what's going on, players etc. Knowledgeable, friendly and very welcoming lot. Love it up there.
