QPR main site and Austin coverage 21:15 - Jan 11 with 3240 viewssdm1508

Does anyone else think it's getting a bit OTT. Every 5 minutes on social media they are reposting stuff or putting stuff up on the website. Yes it's nice that he is back but let's see how he does first. They are guilty of this with so many players. Eze when he first burst on the scene being the most recent. Just puts pressure on the player although with Austin, I think he can handle it. Don't they realise they need to curb it a bit it maybe it's a toll to make us forget we lost again at the weekend and not won in 10. Or am I just being a miserable got??

When did we sign Charlie again? Have we covered that on this site?

Never knowingly right.

Lol good point. Although yes I am moaning about Austin this does follow a general narrative that the media team tend to do. It just so happens on this occasion it is Austin. Happy for admin to delete this thread if they wish 😁

Seems obvious to me. Distracts the fan base from the fact that we haven't won a game for 2 x months.

Much the same when Ferdinand was appointed DOF or Holloway was brought in as manager. When the shit is flying bring in a former club legend to quiet the fans.....for a bit.

Perhaps people should read how pissed off West Brom fans are about him leaving before judging how crap he’s going to be here second time around. I guarantee if he doesn’t score against Luton he’ll be in the same bin as Dykes on a thread here tomorrow night. He’s 31 not 100. He’s may not be as prolific now but he’ll score goals. Who knows, he may recapture his original form.

Never knowingly right.

He was held together with chewing gum and duct tape the first time around – we were lucky to get him then as he'd failed his physical at Hull. Barring his Championship season with West Brom, his appearances and goals per game tally have gone down pretty much year over year. I suppose we've got little to lose, but for the first time I'm glad there are no fans in the stadium for the foreseeable future. Because if he goes three or four games without scoring people would be all over him.

Possibly a bit OTT, but we need new fans and we need existing fans to be enthused and excited and we need young fans to have something to brag to their mates about.

I'd rather the fine PR team we have be slightly OTT than have a crap PR team be boring.

Wasn’t this goal of the season for 2 minutes and then a Southampton player (who is either now playing in Liverpool or China) immediately went up the other end and scored even more of a worldy.

It's well OTT.
But it's lockdown.
We haven't won for what feels like several years.
I'm fn miserable.
Is it all right if we just enjoy a bit of happiness and nostalgia for a bit? Just don't look if you don't like it.

Bare bones.

No the Southampton 2nd goal wasn't as good as Charlie's, when Charlie equalized I thought we were gonna go on and win the game
Of course we didn't

I’m a tad - or even a DuÅ¡an Tadić - confused. I remember the game we won 2-1 which was the only game we won outside of London that season. Both the managers were having birthdays (Wobble-chops & Poch?) I suppose we eventually went down. A nice day out anyway.

Don't understand why this is even being discussed. Look at the content or don't. One of the few positives to shout about at the moment.

Now I'm confused
I've been at all of our games at St Mary's and I'm convinced I've only seen us lose there twice, 1-0 and 2-1, the 2-1 loss being the Charlie wonder goal.

Might be wrong, I could be wrong, I probably am wrong

I'd have agreed for Eze somewhat - reckless to pressure a young player like that - but also like Brian says it's their job to enthuse if we ever want to hope for a QPR world not filled to the brim with old gits.

Austin though, if you can't milk this for the three days between signing and match what can you be happy about.

Almost worth it on its own just to have some pictures of him for the bedside table without the old crest.

Absolutely right! Yes, it is OTT, and probably not helpful to the man himself, but It really cheered me up seeing Charlie's enthusiasm and what is obviously a genuine love for the club so clearly on show here. Plus the pisstaking banter between him and Paul Morrissey was heart-warming in itself. I have no doubt that his presence is going to lift everyone and probably get say 5 - 10% ,ore out of everyone on the pitch. Is he going to get a hattrick in every game he plays? Of course not, but he has so much experience to share with our current crop of strikers who all look like they're desperately in need of guidance and direction.

The one we won 2-1 was when we went down in 2013. Remy and Bothroyd scored. The Austin game was when we went down in 2015. He equalised then they scored another to go 2-1 up.

Just took a peek at WBA's stats - their four other forwards who've featured this season have four goals from 46 appearances. They must really not rate Austin.

Saying that, I think Austin is the type that needs to be playing every game to perform at his best.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?
