Captain Chair 23:22 - Oct 4 with 3813 viewsDoudou87

Very surprised Beale went with Chair as captain. Thought the like of Fields, Dunne, Dieng and Balogon would have been ahead of him. Reminds me of when Warnock made Taarabt captain.

I think he's just rotating it.

Very different player and temperament to Taarabt. Works hard all game every game and no one on the pitch wants to win more. Good choice.

I think Beale was giving Chair a reward for his work rate over the last couple of months and making an example of him to the rest of the squad.

I like it as a choice. He cares about the club and although he doesn't see the game in front of him like a centre half or is the most vocal, you can see at the end that they were pleased he had the arm band tonight.

Smells like a trout farm in here

Very often the one who wears the armband isn't the captain. Can't really give it to Balogun so early.

Chair has been at QPR a long time and I think he really understands the club and our supporters. I'm really enjoying seeing him step up this season.

Chair's a leader and always has been. Model pro. Size and position irrelevant for me, he's different gravy.

Bare bones.

It's been great watching him develop at the club. Even more so when you watch him skin players like he did last night.
Top player. Maybe drops his head to quickly when things don't go right which will effect performances and maybe he holds onto the ball a fraction too long. But then wtf do I know..lol

You can tell he takes it seriously as he was congratulating Paal and Laird at the end of the match for their play. Good to see him getting rewards. He's always been important for us but I do think he's gone up a level this season.

Captain is irrelevant once the toss and pre match photos are done. This isn't cricket.

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it

Sometimes but not always. Warnock making Taarabt captain was a master stroke that ultimately ended with us getting promoted.

Chair getting the armband last night demonstrated to the rest of the squad that players will be rewarded for going above and beyond. It put him on a pedestal (pede-Chair!) as the benchmark for the level of work rate expected.

It all depends how it’s framed but the captains armband can be a useful tool to motivate and elevate players.

i think its actually very important and a bit of a masterstroke by beale

we've lost loads of leaders in the last year- austin, barbet, lee wallace, etc

we still have a relatively young and inexperienced squad with some new players, and our caption is not young enough to get 46 games in this season

its important for beale to build up the leadership from within, and giving chair the armband will certainly encourage him to take on a bigger leadership role in the squad

obviously, football isnt cricket but you still need to breed leaders in the squad

Seriously? Have you ever played a decent standard of football? Of course the captain is relevant obviously not as much as in cricket but you need a leader on the pitch who can assert himself with the other players and the officials

Gone from a boy to a man with us, and of all our youngsters destined to play Premier League you can tell he's the one who wants to do it with QPR the most.

Stepping it up this season, well deserved.

One of the rare few who are loyal as well. Like Eze, signed a contract extension and has never agitated to move.

Let alone the armband but Beale has done such a good job with him so far, he's really pushing on now to fulfil his potential.

Stef is captain and Dickie is Vice.
After that it's anyone's I suppose and Chair had been here longest out of anyone else, plus is currently our best player and has a few years left on his contract.

Ilias is a leader, he shows leadership on the pitch and even when he suffered a huge dip in form last season never shied away from the ball. And he cares about this club deeply, the tears at Bramall Lane last season. A five year contract signed a couple of years back also shows that for him it isn’t the money that motivates him. He just wants to play football, and play it well. And luckily for us he wants to do it with QPR. would be great if he became a one club player, he would certainly threaten the likes of Macca in terms of performances.

Chair is amongst quite a few players we have now who deserve a shot at the Premier, ideally it’ll be with us.
