Sorry if already posted - but some nice stuff here about that day, with plenty from the Chief (who doesn't like Barton) about how hard it was for him, but also makes sure he says how much he loved QPR once he'd been there a while too.
No mention, however, yet again, of how Tevez smacked Barton first. What Barton did was inexcusable, but it's always baffled me how Tevez totally got away with it - what he did was a red card offence too, and he should also have received a ban.
Obscure ZDF games at home to Crystal Palace where we lost 3-2 after being 3-0 down and having a goal disallowed which would have made it 3-3?
Should I talk about Chippy scoring a goal in our 2-1 friendly win at The Den when Kevin Gallen and Keith Stevens were asked to be substituted rather than be sent off?
Should I talk about the fans who did the Opps Upside Your Head dance on the platform after an away match at Derby in the 1970s?
Should I talk about Silly Jim on the LSA coaches - and his ever present hat - and how Blackburn away in 1994 was the last trip he ever made before his tragic death in that summer?
Should I talk about the Kinghams and Smuts and the early years of the LSA?
Let me know what opinions I need to express and what subjects I need to talk about, please.
My preference is to contribute to threads which take my fancy though, if that's OK with you, of course.
Oh, by the way... Its not Wiki searches but knowledge.

Yeh I’d talk about all of that before coming on here defending Ashley fcking Young.

Ya, you should have tried maybe some of that. Or even said Hello!
You could have mentioned Silly Jim for a start.
There's stories there.
But you came in swinging hard today, defending Man Utd all the way, defending that stupid penalty and its context. Look back at all your posts - nothing positive about Rangers, low post count - you looked like a WUM the whole way. I hope you see that now.
Chill a bit. We're a relaxed bunch here.
Apologies.
Cheese?

Sorry, I found myself on the defensive after NorthernR's post.
I've always got positive things to say about Rangers but I'm not going to say stuff just because it's the accepted mantra if I don't believe it to be the truth.
Won't post much but looking forward to more discussions even if we disagree.

For what it’s worth I totally agree with your points about FFP and the financialisation of our club and football, especially during that Prem period. Blood is still up over the Ashley Young thing though.
The secretary of the LSA John Reid wrote a great book called Reclaim the Game you might find interesting . No idea if he posts on here but I doubt it.
Apologies for not being a sheep, a non believer and all that
Sorry, I have a fiery blind spot when it comes to those cnts, 1990s schooling surrounded by the plastics plus the Cantona goal. You’re still bang wrong on that penalty decision which, like I say, was yards offside anyway.

Well, I agreed with NorthernR the whole way, to be honest.
Anyway, you're an R, so welcome.
The tradition on here is to say hello. I haven't noticed you on here before so apologies if you haven't done the simple initiation of stating your favourite cheese?

Please tell me how Man Utd spent big money to win the title in the 50s...
Not being rude but you have so many mistakes on that list that I'm honestly not sure where to begin but that seems like a good place.
Shankly also spent most of his money on lower division players (thrown in incase NorthernR thinks I'm a Man Utd fan again!!)

Manchester United in the 50's were the second club in that city prior to The Second World War & the arrival of Matt Busby.
Well, they started the decade with a goalkeeper that they had paid a world record for in Reg Allen. Among others they paid near world recvord fees for Tommy Taylor & Albery Quixall.
The "Busby Babes" also did not come cheap. Included in them were Duncan Edwards & Bobby Charlton. I would love to know their reasons for joining United.
Edwards came from Wolverhampton, where the local club the top team in the country when he joined United. Charlton was from near Newcastle, who had just won the FA Cup three times & his uncle was (and still is) the fans idol.
Are you seriously telling me that finance played no part in them joining United? That youth set up was the forerunner to whst Chelsea do now!
BTW, I admit to having hated them since my first football recollections. How I cheered when McParland & Lofthouse scored questionable FA Cup winning goals in'57 & '58!
Shankly's Liverpool. Sorry, I didn't realise that the Scottish Division One at that time was a lower league that The Football League Division Two! Yeats, Stevenson & St John all came from that route. Milne & Thompson came from First Division clubs when they were on the verge of playing for England. Later on they paid over £100,000 for Alan Evans!
Apart from possibly Huddersfield, what other club on my list is a mistake? And plkease give reasons as to why I may be wrong!

He must be gone but I don't think there is aa clique on here, just commies, weird peps that ride bikes and sensible errr me!
Not sure it will count much in their favour but I'm thoroughly and sincerely enjoying Mr St Pollock's posts...
Me and a mate (Don) got on the LSA bus to Forest for the first game of the 90-91 season. These two lads started chatting to us and we gave them a beer down the back. Then they produced, well Jim produced, a bottle of wine he said he brought back from the World Cup. It was the shape of the trophy, it tasted like piss and we played a game of card where - I swear - we all lost. To this day.
Lots more beer and wine followed. Rangers drew.

Oh, ease yourself.
"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."
It was still only one hand and if you look at the film from behind the goal mason virtually had the whistle to his mouth straight away.Cheating c@nts the pair of them. And he was offside too.

It’s not a clique, more the point that some of us have been posting together on here and it’s predecessors for over twenty years, it’s a free country so feel to post or flounce, if it’s the latter then there’s no need to announce it as it usually makes you like like a right tart when you’re back posting in a week.
favourite cheese mature Cheddar. FFS there is no such thing as the EPL

Not sure how I got a mention-never mind tis true that I'm a sound bloke with a nice bottom that has never been kissed, I'm obviously talking about my bottom when I say never been kissed. I've also never seen my bottom I'm just assuming It's nice because it let's me sit on it whilst I'm trying to measure cosmic distances using a chain of interlocking techniques.
But anyway keep safe and keep washing your hands everybody.
My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Feel a bit for Pollack on this thread. I don’t like Manchester United, I was there, 96, when Eric popped up with the 98th minute winner (I know it was fcking equaliser but it didn’t feel like that). A team based in the north of England yet my London school growing up was packed with them. Given a choice, I’d rather city over United. That said, his points on Derry’s red card are sound. It should never have been a red card, a total fcking bellend cheat did for him but there’s no getting away from the fact Derry made a basic mistake putting an arm on him. As soon as he did that he opened things up, he gave the scummy Young the option to dive, the ref with conflicting emotions, the option to brandish the red etc. Had he kept his hands down there would have been no red card. I have to agree with him on that. Poor decision to give him a red and a penalty but without VAR - whole other debate there on whether it would have been overruled given how sh*t VAR is - he shouldn’t have raised his arms.
On the Derry point I can see where he’s going, I still hate Man United
On a sadder note, i still vividly remember where i was when i learnt Jim was dead. What a character. I sometimes wonder how big Steve is getting on, really hope he's straightened out. What a pair they were! Never a dull moment.
