This one may be right as he might need to keep Albert on the bench as he is our RB replacement. If they both start and Kakay has to go off after 60, Albert may struggle.
Standard 2-0 defeat, the 2nd coming after the 87th minute. We'll have plenty of chances, crosses will come into the box and Dykes will not react to them only to be forgiven by the masses on here that "he didn't get the service". |  |

I’d predict exactly this.
It doesn’t mean the world is ending.
If we win up there and Dykes scores and looks a handful then the season gets very interesting though.
Either way we need a centre forward and could really do with a full back who can play both sides. Without that we don’t have the squad depth, IMO. |  | | |

I haven't seen any pre-season games but like the honest way Beale speaks. It certainly makes a change from Warburton's obfuscation and dreary non-committals. Whether that changes in the future will be interesting.
We're clearly still looking to bring some bodies in, and bearing in mind that our best player from last season can't be match fit yet, it doesn't bode well for a trip to Blackburn. Notwithstanding, if we actually attempt to score a goal, it'll be an improvement on last season's game.

I'd be happy with a score draw.
Saw the Palace match and thought we looked sound at the back early in the game with JCS Paal Dickie and Kakay all looking comfortable until Eze's superb strike beating Dieng at his near post.
If Dozzell and Johanson play well we could even sneak a win!

Not usually that guy, but I find some of the optimism baffling. I love what I've seen of Beale, but we've been in relegation form since February. We've lost experienced players. We have a new set up and tactics. None of the players we have signed have done much or anything at this level yet. We don't have a properly dangerous striker. Our defence has been ropey for months and is now changing to a back 4. We are in dire need of a right back, much as I think Ossie is an adequate back up for a club our size at this time. Willock likely on the bench. Personally, I think we'd do well to finish top half this season, and foresee real struggle.

It’s not too difficult to foresee allowing Field to roam forward will result in goals conceded from counter attacks when possession is lost.
It would be a brave man to suggest that Johansen will provide the stamina, pace and tackling ability needed to cover that position. [Post edited 29 Jul 2022 13:57]

I'm going with a 2-0 defeat, be very happy with a draw.
I'm optimistic with where we are with Beale, but don't think it will be a quick fix, if this is our squad for the season.
We are so reliant on Willock, more so than Chair - when Willock is out I've never felt we've found a good way to aply without him.
If Dozell plays good chance we can score, he really has an eye for through balls, and I think Dykes would do much better with Shodipo playing, who from what I remember from him years ago put in some great crosses for a striker like him.
Fundamentally I think this game is too early for us, hopefully in a few weeks Willock is fully fit, players know each other a bit more and we have another striker. | |
