The Numskulls.
To this day I'm still convinced that this is how my head (mis)works.

Used to like Scorer in the Daily Mirror. Great days reading that before school.

It's heyday was when main character Dave Storry got his dream move from fourth division Stonley Wanderers to Division 1 Tolcaster United.

Stonley Wanderers drew Tolcaster United in the FA Cup and after going 2-0 down quickly managed to get back to 2-1 and got a penalty late on. Dave Storry allowed the club captain to take it and sadly he missed meaning Stoneley went out after a heroic effort. A few days later having been so impressed with Dave Storry's performance, Tolcaster signed him.

George & Lynne in The Sun for a teenage boy was amazing !
Mate of mine was a stockbroker and he swore blind that the market was always up on days Lynne had her top off.

I loved the Numskulls, very funny. The characters were very easy to copy and I used to base many of my own cartoon drawings on them. Later in life, I drew them in for my young children and created stories for them, that I think they enjoyed (?)

That's how the sporting world actually works. Comics ahead of their time again.

What a manager Ma was! She made Neil Warnock look like a pussycat.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

The Numkulls were great. They also set me existential crises at eight years of age.

Do the Numskulls have Numskulls and do they have Numskulls. Did the Numskulls always exist. How do the Numskulls procreate, what do they eat…

Made my little brain pop.

Anyone who liked The Numskulls who hasn't seen Inside Out should give it a go.

Kids' film but one of the more mature and insightful mainstream film releases of that year.

Obviously ABC Warriors, Slaine, Caballistics Inc, Stickleback and Nikolai Dante from the mighty 2000AD. However, Viz is still the winner with the following:

Frankenstein's Cock / Frankenstein's Cock Must Die - fcking EPIC!
Dr Poolittle - he talks to the animals. About constipation.
The Emperor Ming - the incredibly smelly galactic dictator
Buster Gonad (all of them)
The Lapdancing Nit Nurse
Vince's Cable
Dr Poo - travelling through time and space in search of somewhere to have a big shit
... and so many more.

Sven Hassel. I must have read most of his stuff as a young lad. Loved the fact I was reading WW2 stories from the German side.
