I know it’s preseason and optimism is at an all time high but there is something to like about this report. I think last season left me so deflated that my perception of players ability has changed. When JCS signed I was over the moon, youngish, highly rated at Chelsea with the ability to play a full season without injury, what was there not to like. With his struggles last season I feel we have written him off, but if and it’s a big if he can maintain fitness we have a very capable defender to partner Dunne. Love the sound of tailored training and Albert taking the lead. I truly believe a good backroom staff can turn a very mediocre squad into challengers. Luton for example, they really didn’t have a promotion winning squad. Mpanzu for example has gone from playing in non league with Luton all the way to the premiership, no coincidence there!

Be lucky to get 10 games out of him next season
Another dud who likes all the trimmings of being a professional footballer but not actually playing any football

exactly....does this man actually like football.
his motto seems to be, if you want your wages..Just Cry Sick., or JCS for short.

at the moment...

Poll: how many games this season....home/away.

Record ST sales
Squad fittest they’ve ever been
Great spirit
It’s all about the fans, we love their passion

Years ago we’d be chasing these tw@ts into ditches and demanding better
Modern football innit

There is no doubting the man's ability but he's always injured.
I really rate him as I do Jimmy Dunne, the pair of them could be a really decent partnership.

He's our best centre back when fit. The fact he never is fit is a pretty major inconvenience though! We'll sign more centre backs this season, Balogun will be one of them, but if he stays fit then him and Dunne are the starting 2 for me.

If we’re thick enough to re-sign Balogun we deserve everything we get.

I’m no medical professional but if it’s not a muscle injury or bone injury, what is a “knock on his calf”? Surely footballers get knocks on their legs multiple times throughout a game. If it’s proper calf contusion, then fair enough, but that is a muscle injury, so say so!

It just feels like JCS is just one of these people/footballers, who doesn’t think he can play unless everything is 100%. Convinced it’s a mindset thing.

We absolutely cannot have JCS and balogun in the same squad this season. If we do, we are totally screwed.

omg it didn’t take long - is this going to be your stock response to anything that goes wrong from here on in?

just because LF is no longer in the building it doesn't mean he’s not accountable for the predicament that we’re currently in.

the importance of a teams centre back partnership is underrated for me, both in terms of complementing each other but also for building a mutual understanding. CBs are rarely substituted during a match.

so having one that comes in for a couple of games then disappears for a few more is massively disruptive.

It does feel like this Clarke Salter lad isn't really suited to this playing football lark. Perhaps he could be DOF which is at least a desk job?

In the old days we used to call it the spine of the team didn't we.

Two strong centre backs, a battling midfielder and the striker that could put it about a bit.

Does a double barrelled name ever end well, in any environment?

Pre war maybe, dressage possibly, I’m struggling to think of anyone otherwise.

Indeed, as Jacob Rees-Mogg has exemplified.

I'll give Andy Fairweather-Low a pass though.

Have to say his reaction didn't look very 'precautionary' - booted a bottle into the hoardings then sat with his head in his hands on the bench.

Strange. If you’ve badly injured your calf, you’d not be needlessly straining it to kick something. If you haven’t, why be angry?

A calf strain in a pre season, suggests he hasn't armed up properly.
I'm old and warm up before a game of badminton FFS.
I always felt the pinch pre season if i wasn't fit enough.

To me this is basic stuff , anyone else and you would just say .. yeah - but with him and his track record that's shocking.(IMO)

Agree, if we sign Balogun as well , we need shooting

This all happened because JCS got outmuscled by the opposition player, JCS fell to the floor and kicked out at the oppo, 5 mins later the opposition player kicked JCS in the calf.
