Yep, gave us nothing and Saints absolutely everything. Not why we lost but it doesn't help.

No it wasn't why we lost but was an unbelievably poor performance from him.

I keep saying that football in this country is corrupt and these refs are at the forefront of it all
The same clubs getting the same decisions week in week out
We ministry have Southampton, Leicester & Leeds back in the premier league at all costs

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

It's hard enough to compete with these "Prem clubs" as it is - this just makes it even harder. Look forward to Clive's marking 🤔

Really bad performance (made worse by the fact that there were so few incidents)

I hope our resident ref can give an opinion on playing advantage until the ball is dead and then awarding the free kick. Surely it's one or the other? Bell kept doing that.

Pinner hasn't posted for a couple of weeks now. I suspect that he felt that he had received abuse on the board.

Hopefully I'm wrong & Paul is back soon.

How is it, we never get a referee that gives us everything, when we play at home?

That's a shame.

I hope he hasn't felt hounded out. I don't always agree with him but he's a really valuable resource on the board.

As for this ref, I don't see how a ref doesn't influence the outcome. Even if it's just by giving every 50/50 (or 60/40) to the other team, you're influencing the game because we kept having to win the ball back, which is exhausting in the end.

Being away from home against a team that are more than likely to go straight back up we had 5 shots on target to their 3 shots on target, we had 11 shots to their 7 shots In other words we simply must be more clinical In front of goal.
As bad as the bloody ref was we've come away with nothing and if we'd have been a bit more street wise in front of goal we'd have got what we deserved today which at a minimum was a draw.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

We still need a striker...or two. If we don't get one, these type of frustrating results will continue unfortunately. Good to see Colback off the mark.

Agree, Ted. Still, fairly encouraging.

It's obviously not possible to say one way or the other whether poor refereeing decisions were why we lost, because there's no way of knowing how the alternative reality would have played out! Mind you , pulling Armstrong back for a non-existent foul when he was clean through in the first half at 0-0...

That free kick against Armstrong was ridiculous. The Southampton player was waiting for the ball to run out of play and Armstrong nicked it off of him.

Definitely, and I think if it had been later in the game when we were chasing a goal there would have been more outcry over it from players and coaching staff. But because it was relatively early it perhaps felt less consequential. But objectively it was an appalling decision that could have changed the course of the game.

refusing to let us take that throw in at the end and just blowing up did me in, never mind the extra minute wasted kicking the ball in the stand before, proper bell end of a referee

Just decided early on that they could do whatever to Armstrong and he wasn’t allowed within five yards of them.

The Manning elbow looked bad. Would like to see that again.

Young/new ref. Why risk making your afternoon difficult? The assessor probably thought he had a blinder.
