I think I'm still in awe of that Bellingham performance thinking about it again this morning.
Fck me, the engine, the fitness. He'll have to sleep for a week. One of the great invidual England performances. Could barely move by the end, Christ knows what he/we'd have done if they'd made it 3-3 and had to do another half an hour. |
I'm starting to think he may be worth all the hype!
His goals were clinical, that clearance right in front of the post was incredible and his work rate was off the charts. |  |

We were chatting over beers whilst Kelly, Rooney, Micah and Joe talked absolute shoite trying to fill an hour pre-match.
All in agreement that we'd actually have preferred to play Brazil next as they look a really poor and uncohseive unit, especially in centre-mid.... all with the acbeat "IF we win the game".
So now we know...... hoping and praying it's another Wonderwall moment and not co-ordinated pedlo chanting at the end.

I do wish referees would start booking players for crowding them, and deliberately delaying penalties. The scenes before the Kane and Mbappe kicks this week were mental. It takes a good five minutes to get the bloody game started again every time there's a penalty because we have to go through this palava of everybody crowding the referee, then everybody fighting over the penalty spot, then the goalkeeper pissing about. |
They've managed to cut so much time-wasting out of the game in this (sadly corrupt) tournament, but the pens they need to sort. From the moment the penalty is given, the clock starts. If defenders are not out the box and the keeper not on his line in 30 seconds from the whistle blowing, quite simply, a goal is given. |  |

Saw the re-run this morning and that was stressful enough!
When we went 2 up I thought "please, don't throw this away" but knew it was going to be a monumental task but they delivered, boy did they deliver.
If Kane's conceded penalty was a yellow card, why didn't Rangel get one too?
Mexico were niggly all game and got two yellow's yet we got 4 (one for an unused sub) and a red yet I didn't feel our play was any worse?
Can we ask for our red to be suspended? It worked for Ronaldo & Balogun. |

What a performance by the whole England team and Tuchel. That performance from Bellingham was awesome and has hopefully answered his critics.
I was dreading an equaliser because no way would they have held out for another 30-40 minutes.
The free kick for the 1st Mexican goal was an absolute joke.
The red card justified (maybe Starmer can ask Infantino to suspend that one too).
Also why wasnโt the keeper booked if Kaneโs foul was worth a yellow card?
Norway will be another tough game, but England can win that too if they can stop Haaland from scoring. |  | | |

I really thought I was being foolish staying up late for this but so glad I did now.
Thought the ref got the big decisions right but he did get a lot of small ones wrong. I assume he was impacted by the home support.
Also, he barely had control of the match and didnโt manage it well at all, hence a few flare ups which he has to take some of the blame for. 6/10 performance is generous. | | | |

You know what? I actually thought the ref had a pretty good game in difficult circumstances. Right from the start I thought he was going to offer us the protection we needed from a crowd-bouyed aggressive Mexico. I felt last night that the VAR decisions were harsh (if ok to the letter of the law)...but I put them down to the VAR team rather than the ref who had to go with their recommendation once it was made explicit. |  | | |

Great performance, amazing game, I haven't been to sleep.
He should have brought Trent. At the very least he should have brought him instead of Chalobah as the late replacement. I don't think that's sneery to still think that.
Two things can be true at once: the team can be playing brilliantly, well drilled by an expert coach. And the squad can still look a bit lopsided in places. After all, the second choice RB (who's a CB) covering for the fragile first choice did get sent off last night in the 54th minute for a mad panicked tackle. So it's not been a faultless mastermind selection in that position.
I can hugely enjoy the win and still think it a bit weird he didn't bring a second specialist RB (or LB?). I can enjoy QPR winning and think the squad's weird there simultaneously. Or is everything totally brilliant or totally terrible, no grey areas? | | | |

I believe the Mexican player took two touches from the kick off and so the kick off was turned over to us. I haven't seen it before but I believe that's what happened. |  |

I'm not much of a tv guy nor a big follower of international football but this game had enough pre match questions and intrigue to have me sat down in front of the box for kick off, at least to see how it started. At the final whistle, I'd experienced it all, absolutely thrilling game, didn't and wasn't tempted to switch over nor even head to the kitchen for drinks. Me too. 'Cos I don't watch the Premier League. But who could not be impressed by that performance? Emotionally it seemed like they were battling most of the population of Mexico, and FIFA's faceless computer nerds as well as eleven players. The penalty award had me fuming to point of incoherence (see somewhere above.) But it turned into a match for the ages without a doubt. Nice. Very nice! | | | |
