Agree. Due a defeat and we are the better team. Could have done with a ref more familiar and wise to the dark arts. A Northern European ref would have been best. However, a US ref might not buy the play acting.

It's such a big game, gonna be a right battle. Bound to be loads of controversy, can see red cards, penalties the lot tomorrow. Feels like a game we'll be talking about for decades to come, I can't think of many bigger even the recent finals, this game feels bigger.
It's also the one Tuchel was brought in for, the game we usually lose at tournaments.

They specifically requested to wear their 'lucky' blue away kit, which I don't think they've ever lost in when wearing it against us.
And the ref is from the US...
Come on England.
Could have sworn they wore it in 2002 when we beat them in the World Cup, but nope, a quick Google search very decisively proves it was in fact us in a change strip, not them.

Pretty sure they wouldโve had to wear that anyway, as England are the designated home team and would wear the White. I just think itโs a bit of kidology. Here in Texas, I went to Buffalo wild wings one evening for a quick pint and itโs always empty. The car park was rammed, like it would be for a cowboys game. Turns out Argentina were playing I think maybe VS Jordan or someone. All the Yanks love Messi. However, as the tournament progressed, people are seeing what we are all seeing with the VAR/referees and majority of people seem to want England to win. feels weird. Met some expats here and Iโve been watching games with them. In the bar on Saturday, everyone else wanted Norway because the seem to love Haarland, which I get. It will be interesting to see what the atmosphere is like tomorrow in the bars.

Pretty sure we beat them 3-2 in 2005 in a not so friendly, friendly played in Switzerland, and Argentina wore their away shirts. England score two.late goals and looked contenders going in to 2006. Then Owen and Rooney suffered bad injuries before the World Cup started.

Expecting a very physical game and a lot of playacting and a red card. The ref is in for a very busy night. Think the game will be won either way on a controversial decision. Got a lot of memories like a lot of people on here of the 86 and 98 games, 2002 win not enough revenge . Really hope England come out on top and itโs not decided on penalties. We owe them for the 86 and 98 games still seeing the Sol goal wrongly overturned. Fingers x .

From the BBC highlights of the 1962 World Cup game that are on YouTube, Kenneth Wolstenholme says that "Argentina are in the all dark strip" It looks like they're wearing the black home shorts they used to wear (although for some reason now they don't, they wear white?) and the grey socks they were wearing against us in 1966. I'm presuming the shirts are dark blue.
Here you go we won the World Cup in an English speaking country, this is the first time since then that we are playing the World Cup in an English speaking country. It might well be coming home.

I think if England play with tempo and a bit more direct that Argentina wonโt cope. They are an old team and wonโt like it if England get stuck into them. The beauty of English teams is no slavish adherence to only one style. If Plan A isnโt working thereโs always a B or C including route one. Hope you win๐
