Charlie Kelman’s Leyton Orient 12:00 - Feb 8 with 40040 viewsDannyPaddox

Up against Man City in the FFS that was offside FA Cup. I prepare to stand corrected but I think Charlie is still our player but as I take as much interest in modern football players contracts and transfers as I do in mobile phone contracts I could be wrong. Either way seems like a good lad and having a decent season with a club I like so up the O’s!

Up against a central defender today in Ruben Dias who’s worth approx £75 mil … would love to see Charlie meg him.

14 in 37 league games, 18 in total now for the season. This season will have done his confidence a world of good.

I think we'll see a different player here next season. In no way comparing them but this could be his Les Ferdinand Besiktas season.

Just watched the highlights, looks like a man rather than the boy he was when he left us 18 months ago to go on loan. Definitely put on muscle. Two easy goals but was in the right place for both.

Better than Celar.

Kelman 23 yrs mid table league one several years shown nothing he ll can break in championship vs Celar 25 yrs slovenia national team, mid table championship first season, shown glimpses he ll be good with right coaching and a game plan that suits him.
I ll rest my case for now.

Over the years we have seen many players come good after slow starts at the club, Sir Les, Paul Furlong, Heidar Helguson.

I could never understand why we signed Paul Smythe for a second time and last season did nothing to change my mind. This season Paul is one of the first names on the team sheet.

Charlie Kelman has enjoyed a successful loan spell with Leyton Orient and will return to us full of confidence. No point guessing whether he will be the answer to our striker problems next season or whether he will continue to struggle to make an impact at our club.

I hope we will identify what has made Charlie's loan spell at Orient so productive and give him the opportunity to prove himself next season.

Think Lloyd could enjoy a league one loan.

Chair and Eze had loans that did them well.

Smyth improved after time in the lower leagues.

Kelman has a great habit of being in the right place.

Am looking forward to see how he gets on next season.

Definitely worth giving him a shot next season to see if he can really step up again.

Never knowingly right.

If he continues to impress with us he'd possibly have an outside chance of making the US WC squad.

All those prospects we employed until well into their twenties in the hope that they would come good. Maybe one actually has. We’ve got to give a go next season, surely?

I hope you're right, but Celar has never scored a senior goal for Slovenia, the population of which is slightly less than Kelman's birthplace of Essex, and Suffolk - Kelman might well get a squad place in a notional Essex and Suffolk side.

Hasn't he scored a not so notional 17 goals for a league one side in (north) east London?

Even Ned Zelic showed " glimpses" of being good

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

Good to see Kelman scoring goals but I still don't think he's the right fit for us. We need an adebayo type striker not a small fox in the box type. We don't provide enough crosses for a Kelman type forward.

It's great that Kelman is scoring goals but overall he's played 95 games for Orient and scored 23 goals. Decent but not exactly screaming "I'm too good for this league" is it??

Maybe he's a bench option for us but he needs games at his age so it's better he gets regular mins somewhere else as he can't start up top on his own the way we set up..if we played 2 upfront then yeah he could offer us something different but I don't see him in hoops come August.

Those are league goals, of which Celar has a hatful.

If it wasn't obvious, the point was that Celar's international career is no indication of quality.

Has anyone else noted that Kelman's improvement has coincided with Orient signing The Dominator...?

No? Just me then.

Kelman has the most outfield goals (not including penalties) than anyone in League One. Not bad.

I'll stand by my claim, currently shared only with myself, that a fit Celar is the second coming of Clive Allen, based on nothing whatsoever, except that swivel volley against Cardiff, followed by that classy chip

Anyone even deliberating if Charlie would be any good for us or at championship level .

Just have a little look at our strikers and their availability this season

Another thing to add to this thought

Richard Kone was being chased by Luton who offered 7 million to Wycombe for him

He has very similar stats to Kelman.

As GlousR said earlier in this post, if we knew nothing about Kelman, and we signed him, we would be pretty happy to get him. I genuinely think at least give him till January to see how he fits in now Marti has got a solid core of players here.

Looks a smart decision by the club to extend his contract when many couldn't see what the point was. He either comes back next year as part of the squad (my preference) or we get a fee for him.

Given his age and the number of goals he's scored this season, he's got to be worth a look. If he really can't make it at Championship level, Marti will soon know. If he can, we've got a Championship striker for peanuts.
