Has hardly featured for Pompey and has now moved to top of the table Coventry. Methinks that they may just be starting to panic a bit. It could start to become a three team race for the two automatic spots. 7 point gap between Coventry and Ipswich, who have a game in hand, is nothing at this stage.

I would think he was offered to Coventry by Spurs with the hope that they would buy him in the event of promotion. [Post edited 7 Jan 9:39]

i seriously doubt that. My mate is a season ticket holder at Pompey. Yang has been similarly used by Pompey as he was here, very often on the bench and sometimes not even in the squad. He has scored couple of decent goals, but been ok but nothing special. Nowhere near, a premier league player as yet. Seems a strange pick up by Coventry and like others said bit of a rash and sudden decision. [Post edited 8 Jan 1:16]

Maybe Lampard is just going for the rack and stack approach that other managers have applied when going for promotion such as Wilder and Sheff Utd and Scott Parker at Bournemouth and Burnley

Mandatory coaches for away fans regardless of where you live setting off from 8:30am and you have to be there to board at 7:30. 12pm KO so assume they’ll just tip them into the ground at 9:15 and leave them to it for nearly three hours. Fans also have to pay to be on the coach they’re forced to be on in order to attend a football match. [Post edited 13 Jan 11:37]

I think it's similar for Loo Town and Watford.

And Swansea v Cardiff.Even if you lived close to either city and were an away fan, you’d have to travel to the other one to get a coach back again.

And Blackburn v Burnley, although that isn't happening this season! Hundreds, if not thousands, live in the other town & have to drive each way by car to get on a coach back.

On the other hand, maybe Spurs aren't happy with the minutes he's getting down in Portsmouth and think Coventry's a better prospect?

God I'd forgotten all about him. Thankfully. With all the money, sleeve tats and expensive watches, I doubt he's really that bothered.

Any specific reasons why we're suddenly getting all these medical emergencies at football matches? And why does it only seem to be football and not say, rugby or cricket? You never heard about them even ten years ago, unless they just never got reported. Odd.

Does seem to be more in recent years , maybe its because a lof ot the time the clubs own physios has got involved in helping so the game cant carry on until they get back to the bench, always wondered about the steward in fron of the ellerslie road stand who took the tumble a few season back , shouldnt laugh but i did a lot

Possibly something to do with the fact the average age of fans going to games is increasing while younger fans are more likely to be digitally engaged. In the most recent FSA supporter survey nearly 63% of the respondents were aged 46+ "9,675 fans filled in the survey, which ran online between 20th March and 18th April. Figures have been rounded to one decimal place, and certain questions allowed more than one response, or for respondents to prefer not to give an answer, so figures will not always add up to 100%. Age breakdown Under 18 – 1.4% 18 to 25 – 6.2% 26 to 35 – 12.8% 36 to 45 – 16% 46 to 55 – 18.8% 56 to 65 – 24.7% Over 65 – 19.3%" https://thefsa.org.uk/news/nat https://www.theguardian.com/co AI Overview English football fandom shows a strong presence across adult generations, with younger fans (18-34) often leading in interest and digital engagement, while older fans (45+) form a significant core, though rising ticket prices create accessibility issues, leading to an aging average fan age (around 41) and concerns about future generations, with women's football attracting younger demographics. Key Age Demographics & Trends: 25-34s (Largest Group): Represent a substantial portion of fans (around 29%), indicating strong engagement in early to mid-adulthood. 16-24s (Growing Interest): A large segment (around 27%) with high digital engagement, showing growing interest in the Premier League and women's football (WSL). Older Fans (Established Base): Ages 35+ (45-54s, 55-64s) form a solid, yet aging, base, with older fans (56+) making up a large percentage in some surveys, though participation declines. Average Age: The average age of a Premier League supporter has been noted around 41, highlighting an aging demographic, say the Football Supporters' Association and The Guardian. Generational Differences: Younger Fans (18-34): More digitally native, consume content across platforms (TikTok, YouTube), expect socially relevant sponsorship, and show high interest in the WSL. Older Fans: May struggle with high ticket costs, leading to difficulties accessing live games, and are more likely to be traditional TV viewers, notes gipedo.io and The New York Times. Key Concerns: Ticket Prices: High costs are pushing younger and less affluent fans away from live matches, creating a future attendance problem, according to The Guardian and The New York Times. Digital Engagement: While young fans are highly digital, clubs need to adapt content to capture this audience long-term, suggests Sport Insight Solutions. In Summary: While football remains broadly popular, English football faces a challenge in bridging the gap for younger fans to become regular match-goers, balancing an aging core with a digitally-savvy, but often priced-out, youth demographic.

Well OK but still doesn't explain why these things only seem to happen at football matches and not other sporting events.
