Surprised to see two absolute dumps on there in Elland Road and Selhurst Park. Wouldn't The Valley have been a better option in London and The Riverside for an oop north stadium? Unless Elland Road is getting a long overdue upgrade?

The obsession with Elland Road for internationals and big Rugby League games is just an absolute fcking mystery to anybody who's ever had to a) drive there, b) park there, c) sit in it.

I last went in 1995 (Sinclair and Dichio brace) but I'd be amazed if it's changed.

I know FIFA has some very strict rules about minimum pitch size which is why Anfield never gets a look in for these tournaments.
The Amex, while shiny and new-ish, is also pretty rank for transport. Fine getting there but good luck getting away.
2035 is a long way away though and presumably the likes of Selhurst would need some major upgrades to make the cut and/or are just on there to make up the numbers

Elland Road was chosen because anybody who watches football there turns into the best and most passionate fans in the whole world.

The article says that Old Trafford will remain on the list even if it doesn't get its proposed rebuild between now and 2035.
It's a summer tournament so hopefully that leaky roof won't be too much of a problem.

Isn't Selhurst Park a bit like our own lovely abode in that the footprint that it sits on would mean that if those two side stands were rebuilt to modern standards it would reduce the current capacity? Again like Elland Road it's a ground I haven't visited since the mid 90s but I seem to remember not much room for expansion.

Good. Gives us the chance to go above Ipswich tomorrow and potentially into a play-off place.
Now that's Silly!
Silly league indeed. Even more so this year, as there isn't a great deal of difference between so many teams in this league. I'd include the minimal gap between ourselves and a team like Norwich, league positions notwithstanding. I'm expecting a tough game today.
Well done to Oxford, who with a smaller squad at their disposal to most certainly Ipswich and even ourselves, demonstrated that you can still compete and win in that third game of the week. Points in their last two games gained in the absence of a key player for them: Brannagan. Along with them having to play three games in exactly 7 days.
Two of those games against the supposedly better teams, whatever that means this year: Ipswich and Middlesbrough.

The Silly League, I like that, concise and accurate, can we go with that for the rest of the season?
In my own head it’s been the Chuckle Brothers League, to me to you, there’s extended sessions of this in virtually every game, actually find it quite relaxing when the ball gets booted from head to head and back again in midfield areas, a brief escape from the carnage that’s trying to hold onto the ball at ground level.

Watched the game. Philogene doesn't do away games, Gary Rowett is a very good manager, and all Ipswich's chopping and changing leaves them a but disjointed. Hmm. Interesting listening to Gabriel Suttons podcast the other day, that a couple of teams who started the season bang on it, playing high intensity football, are starting to suffer from injuries now. I suppose it adds some meat to Williams methods, although I still think we were inexcusably short of fitness for the first few matches. Someone from Charlton mentioned how unfit Kelman appeared to be when he joined up with them this season.
I watched the second half of that Bundesliga game last night, BMG v Leipzig - 11th v 2nd - 0-0 - very little to get excited about. Now I know it's nothing to do with the Championship specifically, but as far as I could see it was about the same level as say top half championship. A touch slicker perhaps, but that was about it.
Okay, it was only one game, so not really a fair comparison perhaps. What's my point here? That the championship - especially in seasons like this where the cliche 'anyone can beat anyone' seems more true that ever - is arguably the most entertaining league in European football. Which is why it is such a shame that absolute shysters like the SW owner and all the others like him who have been allowed to fk around with these historic teams and their passionate fanbases.
Sorry if I'm going to get a bit didactic here, but If football is tantamount to religion - you could see that from a Marxist perspective if you're Baz: the opium of the people (not dissimilar from Juvenal's 'Bread and Circuses) - or from a sociological perspective: the tribal sense of belonging... then the Championship is the High Church. Still retaining strong connections to its roots, not completely tainted by the vulgarity that infests the Prem.... it's a great league. Isn't it?*
Which is why, despite all the hot air about Nourry and so on, isn't it great that we're competing in this league and possibly in better shape than we have been for years? Or am I being naive?
*There, I've used an asterisk. Yes, I know, it can serve up utter bilge, we've all watched it. But... but....
Sadly think MC will be gone by Christmas as it appears a very toxic environment at that club currently. And they still dont know whether they will be deducted points which is ludicrous. At least Sheff Wed knew instantly
Also, we knew that Sheff Utd were in a false position
P.S: Sheff Utd for play offs. you read it here first
